The purpose of our plan

We want our plan to come to life by actually buying the energy efficient light bulbs at West. It will save us a lot of energy and money. The money can go for more school supplies!

Prices and Cost

Energy Saving Light Bulb The average cost of electricity in the United States is currently 11.88 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) (for a more accurate cost, you can check your last billing statement for your cost per kWh), meaning if you used 1,000 watts of electricity for an hour, it costs you 11.41 cents.

Regular Bulb If you were to leave a 100-

watt bulb burning for 24 hours each day, 365 days per year, it would use 876 kilowatt hours per year. (1000 watts equals one kilowatt – “kilo” means a thousand.) A kilowatt-hour of electricity costs about

15 cents.
