Thank you to Mrs. Benson of the Porter County Soil & Water Conservation District for presenting the "Sow, Grow, and Know" program to our 2nd graders. What a neat experience! A local farmer presented to the classes and students worked in small groups to create two seasoned terrariums.
Keep them Engaged and Learning during Spring Break!

Severe Weather Awareness Week
It's Severe Weather Awareness Week here in Indiana and starting Thursday Morning, residents will hear the blast of weather sirens all over the state.
The National Weather Service, along with Indiana State Police, IDHS, Porter County EMA, and Indiana schools will be conducting a statewide test of communication systems at 9:15am CST Thursday Morning for school children practiced their drills at that time. JSE will discuss this drill in their classrooms, we recently practiced the drill.
You will also find a kids activity guide prepared by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security by visiting http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/ind/IDHSKidsSWABooklet.pdf
At 6:35 p.m. CST Thursday Evening sirens will go off again statewide so families can practice their own drills at home. The hope: Hoosiers will take this opportunity to prepare their families for the severe weather season.
We ask that families talk about and plan what they would do in the event that severe weather happens so that when they hear the sirens, see the warning on TV or the radio, everyone in the home knows what to do.
Practice your plan in your home as if severe weather was happening. Pay attention to a watch and then move quickly for a warning. As soon as you hear the warning, move away from all windows and doors. Move underground to a basement or an interior room like a bathroom, closet, or under the stairwell.
