G.P.S. - Grow, Pray, Serve

This has been an exciting year of spiritual growth for our ACE

kiddos. During our time in the sanctuary after snack we talked

about the Fruit of the Spirit, watched and read Bible stories,

learned about the Advent Wreath, music appreciation and

learned to listen to each other. One of their favorite stories

was Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and the “Fiery Furnace”,

where they learned the importance of trusting in God and to

not be afraid. We tried to incorporate character development

with each of our sessions. They loved lighting the Advent

candle, learning the significance of each candle and singing the

song. Johnny Joey Jones, a United States Marine who was

combat wounded with a life changing disability, was another

favorite. We followed his journey to recovery, his passion for

helping others and they still regularly chant his words, “ Get

up, get over it and get going!” They learned to pray with

compassion, joy and love for not only their families and friends

but the world around us.

It has been a wonderful year and my pleasure to guide and

explore with them!

A.C.E Amigos

Our ACE Amigo program is always a big hit each year! This progam is designed to give our 2nd - 5th graders an opportunity to be matched up with a high school student/mentor. The ACE student and their "amigo" meets every two weeks for approximately 4 months. During their time together, they get to eat an extra yummy snack, play games, do experiments, make crafts and get sweaty playing dodgeball, basketball and kickball. The ACE kids love their time with their amigo! Likewise, the high school students have tons of fun with their amigo! It is a great opportunity for our young ones to look up to a hardworking, kind and respectful mentors.

Our next, and FINAL, ACE Amigo day is coming up next week (May 8 & 10th). This meeting will be filled with mento geysers, ivory soap experiments, and our end of year ice cream sundae bar!!
