Math Night Provided Families Fun Options for Learning
Washington Elementary School will be hosted Family Math Night last Thursday night. We are excited the 350+ people participated in the evening of learning and fun for the whole family! In addition to a book fair, K-5 math activities in the classroom, Mr. Baier and student leaders hosted three sessions for families to learn about the Circle of Control Model using donuts and donut holes. We look forward to Reading Night in the spring.
Getting Winter Ready..
Winter Clothing: Are you ready? It is the time to establish the routine of wearing coats, hats and gloves to school. Students will go out outside for up to 20 minutes each day during lunch recess. Please develop a routine that has your child check the weather and temperature so he/she can be ready for the weather conditions of the day. Be sure to check the lost and found if anything comes up missing!
A Plan for No School, Late States and Early Dismissals Due to Weather.
As weather conditions change, families need to make sure to make they have a plan in place for no school, late starts or early dismissals. If there is no school due to weather, stay tuned to local radio and television stations for updates. Additionally, you can contact the school district help and information line at 507-386-4777.
In the event of an early dismissal due to weather, Washington will dismiss at the time announced for elementary buildings. Please make sure you have an up-to-date early dismissal plan shared with your child's classroom teacher.
If our school district is scheduled for a late start due to weather, do not drop your child off at school. There won't be supervision available until 30 minutes before school starts
Media Center Update.

You can help raise money for Washington Elementary!
Collection drawers are located by the office door.
The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school. Instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The new BTFE app features allow you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online.
***If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products. LEARN MORE ABOUT THESE CHANGES AT https://www.boxtops4education.com/
With Coca-Cola Give, every purchase of your favorite Coca-Cola beverages is an opportunity to make a difference to Washington Elementary. To donate, simply visit https://us.coca-cola.com/give/schools/, select Washington Elementary and scan or enter product codes from participating Coca-Cola products. Each product code scanned or entered has a unique donation value.
Save your Hy-Vee receipts from both Mankato locations and they will donate $1 for every $150 spent through the Hy-Vee Kash 4 Kids program. The receipts must be dated during the current school year (Sept. 2019 - June 2020) to qualify. Every little bit will add-up!
We have set up our PTO as an organization you can support through AmazonSmile. Once you select us as an organization to support, we will receive 0.5% of the price of your eligible smile.amazon.com purchases.
