Location
The Caribbean is located south of America and is in the Caribbean Sea. The Caribbean is a host to many different ecosystems such as montane cloud forest to cactus shrublands.
Endemic Animals/ plants in the Caribbean
One native animal to the Caribbean islands would be the Andros Island Iguana. One native plant would be the Caribbean Mohogany.
Socio-economic conditions
The conditions in the Caribbean are all thanks to the European colonization and the introduction of slavery and constant planting and harvesting of crops. This introduced human activity to this area.
Why specie biodiversity is in decline?
Specie biodiversity is in decline because people use the plants and hunt these species which decreases the amount of that population.
What is being done to protect this hotspot?
The government has made an effort to protect these animals by making it illegal to hunt in certain areas and certain species that are either endangered or close to it.
