Principal's Message
New Trial Student Report Template
One of our strategic directions for our new school plan is to strengthen our existing positive school culture. One of the projects to help us achieve this is our Student Reporting Project. Following consultation with the staff and community we have developed this new report format to improve the way we communicate the progress and achievement of our students to you, our parents. The report template that we have used this semester is a trial and will be distributed on Wednesday 9th December. A cover letter will accompany each student report to explain the changes, but in summary, we have changed the language of achievement from “limited, basic, sound, high & outstanding” to “Limited Achievement, Working Towards, Expected Level, Working Above & Working Beyond.” We have also isolated content from each Key Learning Area (KLA) within each strand and provided a more individualised record of assessment using less teacher jargon. The result is a report that reflects the learning and achievement of each child in a more holistic and precise way, as well as being more reader-friendly. As part of our school’s ongoing improvement process, we would be very grateful for your feedback on our new report template if you wouldn’t mind taking 3-5 minutes to complete our survey once you have read your child’s report next week. The survey link will be printed on the cover letter accompanying each report, but I will also place a hyperlink to the survey in our last newsletter for the term next week.
Student Absence in Term 1, 2016
Early in Term 1 each year the Principal is required to submit final student enrolments to the Department of Education which will determine our final staffing allocation. Often, we have students who do not return at the beginning of term due to extended holidays. This can potentially have an effect on our enrolments and staffing allocation. If you know that your child will not be returning on day 1 of Term 1 next year, could you please provide us with your child’s expected date of return and reason for their absence in writing before the end of this term. Many thanks in advance for your cooperation on this.
End of Year Events
Another successful year at BPS is nearing an end…. So why not finish with a bang! All the students have worked exceptionally well throughout the year and are currently preparing for our end of year events. Please keep a close eye on the calendar so you don’t miss any of our fantastic events that are fast approaching!
Enjoy the rest of your week
Ben Walsh

Many children have been asked to provide a special outfit for their performance. If you are not sure if your child needs to provide something or your child will be absent, please let your class teacher know now so that it does not affect the performance.
