Warhawk News
Information/Updates about Westerville Central High School
Message from Mr. Lanier
What a dichotomy we have at Central this week. We begin with the OST's Monday April 18-Friday April 20, and end it with Prom Saturday April 21. Take a moment to talk to your son/daughter about making good, safe, choices during prom season. The newsletter contains detailed information about both events below.
We are also emphasizing the importance of service to others throughout the remainder of the year. It is so easy to get wrapped up in our day-to-day running around that we miss opportunities to give back to those around us who need it most. Make it a goal with your family to do some service work during this time and brighten someone else's day. I recently shared this quote about service from Mohatma Gandhi with our student body, "the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." If the entire Warhawk Nation devotes themselves to serving others, our community as a whole will benefit greatly.

Mindfulness. It’s a word you may have heard before, it may even be becoming a buzz word, but it IS a word to start paying attention to. In the fast paced, busy, over scheduled, demanding lifestyles we lead (both students and adults alike), mindfulness may be the key to giving our minds some rest. The research is showing that we should be practicing mindfulness the same way we should be practicing physical activity - doing some every day. The benefits have shown to be numerous including improving sleep, managing stress, reducing anxiety, improving mood, and more. There a multiple ways of practicing mindfulness, Here are 6 Mindfulness Exercises You can Try Today! Need more guidance? Here is a link of five free mindfulness apps that you can use on your phone - Mrs. Kopacko personally likes #4 Stop. Breath. Think. And uses it with her students often. Give them a try!
