2nd Grade Music Concert and Learning Celebration
Concerts are a special occasion and students should dress accordingly! Students may wear dresses, skirts, dress pants, nice sweaters, khakis, neck ties, bow ties, etc. Students should try not to wear their “every day” clothes, but something special to reflect how exciting and special our performances are!
Students should arrive at 5:45 and report to the art room (Muroni) or the music room (Hoffman). Parents should take their child’s coat so nothing is left behind in these classrooms.
The concert takes place in the gym from 6:00-6:30 pm and is directly followed by the students' Learning Celebration from 6:30-7:30 pm.

Coin Collection for Kids with Cancer (G9: Gold in September organization)
The concept for the G9 was created by Annie, a local girl from Hartland, who saw the nation turn pink in October for Breast Cancer. After watching her twin brother battle and eventually lose his battle to cancer, she became determined to turn the world GOLD IN SEPTEMBER for kids battling cancer. The Penny War is for this organization that supports research for those with childhood cancer. It's kids helping kids!
Starting next week, this week long event creates friendly competition between classrooms. Thanks for your participation toward this great organization!
How it works: The object is for each classroom to accumulate as much money by collecting coins each day.
- Monday 3/13 = Pennies
- Tuesday 3/14 = Nickels
- Wednesday 3/15 = Dimes
- Thursday 3/16 = Quarters
- Friday 3/17 = Dollars
The winning classroom will earn an extra 30 minute recess!
Everybody wins:

- The school who raises the most money will receive a special visit from a Green Bay Packers player, and recognition from McDonald’s® Restaurants of Southeastern Wisconsin. Let's do this, Ixonia!!

Student Family Assistance Program
We are so excited to share with you that the Oconomowoc Area School District has partnered with Aurora Healthcare to offer free counseling services to all students and families. This new program offers professional counselors to help students and families address a wide range of issues that impact health and academic performance. Under this partnership, every family in the Oconomowoc Area School District is eligible for six one-hour confidential counseling sessions per topic of concern for no cost.
Our teachers and student services team are always trying to support the emotional development of our students. However, often times our team can only scratch the surface when working with individual students. This program may be the perfect opportunity for you and your child to seek additional and comprehensive support to cope with a variety of challenges including: use of alcohol or other drugs and mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression or stress. You may also reach out to SFAP for support in dealing with grief or other family crises.
We are only one of eight school districts in the area to offer a partnership like this, and the first in Waukesha County! I am proud to work for a district that values and emphasizes the importance of supporting our families in times of crisis. To seek additional information, please contact either myself (Mrs. Yearling), a member of our Student Services team (Mrs. Behrens, Mrs. Lee or Ms. Wagner), or the SFAP program directly at 1-800-236-3231.
