Dewing School Happenings

Hello Dewing Families,

Spring has sprung. The flowers are blooming and the grass is growing. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by such beauty and growth.

This week, we celebrate Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. We are so incredibly grateful for each and every staff member here at the Dewing School. They have made this year a tremendous success! They come to school each day with a smile on their faces and the same energy as the first day of school. The care that has gone into this year has been extraordinary. It truly warms our hearts. Thank you to our staff.

On behalf of the faculty and staff we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the parents and families of the Dewing School community for the tremendous outpouring of support this past Educator Appreciation Week. Muffins and breakfast, flowers, snacks and treats, morning coffee and lunch - so lovely - each day had an extra moment of joy. We appreciate the donations of time, effort and money that so many contributed to make sure that our Dewing folks felt appreciated by the families they work so hard to serve.

Thank you for your kindness.

Sincerely, Alexis and Terry

School Lunch

As a reminder, school lunch is free for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. If your child is attending school in person, your child will use the lunch line when getting school lunch beginning April 5th (socially distanced). If your child orders a lunch, there will be a snack included for the next school day.

A reminder, please complete the free and reduced lunch form if you believe your child may be eligible. Even though lunches are free this year, the district receives funding when these forms are completed. Thank you! (Forms can be downloaded from the TPS website)

Visitors to the Dewing/Late arrivals/Nurse Dismissals

Visitors-Please be reminded, at this time, visitors are not permitted inside the building. This is for the health and safety of our students and staff. The only people permitted are staff members, students and approved contractors. If you need to contact the office in person, please come to the main door and ring the bell. A staff member will come out to talk to you and help you.

Late Arrivals-If your child is dropped off to school after 8:45, you must park in an assigned parking spot (not the bus drop off lane) and walk your child to the door. Please ring the bell and wait for a staff member to greet your child in person.

Nurse Dismissals-If your child is dismissed by the nurse, the dismissal area is now through the gym door (last door, closest to the C-wing). The gym is located on the right side of the building as you are facing the building. This is also the parent drop off area. You must call the nurse from your car to inform her of your arrival 97-640-7858 x303

We know that these procedures are different from other years and we appreciate your adherence to them. Every change we make is done to support the health and safety of our community. Thank you.

A couple of little tidbits for our 'All In' families

Water Bottles: Please make sure to send a water bottle in with your child. There is a refill station. It gets warm under those masks.

Lunch: If you are sending lunch from home with your child, please make sure s/he has proper utensils. Our Food Service Personnel have been working hard creating grab n go meals as we transition back in. We do not have individually wrapped utensils available at this time.

School lunch continues to be free through the end of the school year.

Spare Masks: Please send an extra mask or two in with your child. Sometimes they start to feel yucky mid-day. We have a small supply of masks for emergencies.
