Nuts and Bolts

1. Hello All! We can all help our Teacher Mental Health Action team by brining our Christmas decor they're you may not use this year so they can decorate the library / gym for the party. Please bring Christmas decorations to Mel Ervin's room! :)

2. When a student moves from their current residence inside the city to another area in state or out of state, parents need to come into the school to fill out a formal withdrawal from Liberty Bell on or before the day they plan for their student to discontinue at LB.

Please be prepared to turn in Chromebooks, chargers, hotspots and library books.

Registrar/Student Records

3. RA teachers have had many students with phones, airpods, etc bringing those items to RA. Classroom teachers, could you please help us reinforce with students that the expectations for these items is that they are off and in their locker/backpacks at all times, not just during class times? I think they are getting them out in the hallways as well on their way to RA.

4. Before school, if you send a student to the library, please send their tracker as their hall pass or at least a hall pass. There have been students roving the halls saying they have permission to go to the library and it is difficult to know who was actually given permission and who wasn't. We will begin sending all students without hall passes back to teams.

Healthy Schools Survey

Hello Patriots! We are working on a grant for $4,000. We have several options and we would like your input. We could work on a room for teachers/staff for relaxation. Examples of suggestions of our team were things like massage chairs, white noise machines, Keurigs, etc. Another idea was a game space for teachers, also for mental health, with examples of things like a foosball table, ping pong, pool, etc. Another idea was to purchase incentives for our mental health team to use throughout the year as prizes for competitions. Another idea was to slowly start an exercise room for teachers and we would purchase equipment/machines year by year. Finally, we also talked about the need for students to have game packs, balls, supplies and a cart to take out for team time. Please share below any ideas you have that may be good purchases for our grant. You can share ideas listed above or your own.

Program of Studies/Scheduling Survey

Hello Teachers! As we move into working on a unified Program of Studies for middle school and as we begin to think about the master schedule for next year, we would like your input.

LBMS Tech Tips from your Tech Leads

Grade Sync Issues

Most of the issues have predominately been due to an open-ended date or closed grading period date. Canvas/PowerSchool have made changes that seem to require all grades to be within a grading period to sync. In addition, PowerSchool is locked for past grading periods, and you can’t sync a grade in a locked period.

For example, open ended dates (blanks) aren’t talking to PS because it has to know where to place it. Grades aren’t syncing if the due date is October 1 because that was Quarter 1 which is a locked grading period. Please check all assignments to ensure the dates are within the correct quarter/term if you ar4e having problems with syncing.

PowerSchool Dates

For quarter classes at all schools

Q1 = 8/4 - 10/8

Q2 = 10/18 - 12/17

Q3 = 1/4 - 3/11

Q4 = 3/21 - 5/26

For year-long classes at LB, ITIS, Elem

Q1 = 8/4 - 10/8

Q2 = 10/18 - 12/17

Q3 = 1/4 - 3/11

Q4 = 3/21 - 5/24

E2 = 5/25 - 5/26

The sync needs to be turned off for assignments in a previous grading period too. If the grading terms are correct in the assignment, go through and turn off the sync to SIS options for any assignment in a closed grading period. Example below is from the previous grade period, but the green sync is on, and it should be off.
