A great time at the Lion King
The Lion King was an amazing experience. We saw fabulous actors and singers who can inspire us. The story was cleverly told and there were people swinging on ropes, dancing and singing great songs. I was particularly impressed with the way that the actors could remember all the words, particularly the young children playing Simba and Narla. I would love to visit the West End again in the future.

On the Tube!
On the way down to London, we had to change trains and I was upgraded to first class. The chairs were bigger and comfier. We travelled on the tube. It was very loud and the trains rocked from side to side. The trains were really quick at getting from station to station. It was great to discover how to get around on the tube.

St Paul's cathedral
St Paul's Cathedral was great, because we saw the crypt where there were the memorials of famous people like Wellington. I liked the pictures in the Cathedral. We were told all about the crypt and how the Cathedral was built. We went to the choir and I dressed as a Bishop and watched over my flock before climbing up the dome.

Top of the Dome
We climbed to the stone gallery at St Paul's Cathedral which was awesome. We could see all of London, including the London Eye and the Shard. It was exhausting climbing the stairs to the very top but it was worth it. The view was incredible we could see over the Thames down to Westminster Bridge!

On the Stage of the Globe
We sat in the stalls of the Globe Theatre and we talked about the history of the theatre. We went onto the stage and acted a line from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Next we had a drama workshop to explore freeze frames and acting exercises for Shakespeare's play. I learnt how to work with my partner and about the way plays were performed in the past.

Campaigning at Parliament
We had a tour around the Houses of Parliament. We were not allowed to sit on the chairs for the Lords and the MPs. It was impressive to see the rooms and how they were decorated. It felt crazy to be where the laws of our land are made. In the Campaigning Workshop we did interactive quizzes and had to develop an idea in groups for a new campaign to change the law.
By LolaA ride on the Eye
The London Eye was great fun as I had never been so high before. You could see for miles from the top. I could see Buckingham Palace and the River Thames. Before riding the Eye we went to the 4D show which made you feel that you were actually there because there were smoke bubbles and a 3D film.

Discoveries at the Natural History Museum
It was really exciting visiting the Natural History Museum. We saw dinosaur bones and the fossils found by Mary Anning. We went to Investigate where we used microscopes and visualisers to look at a range of artefacts.

Science exploration in Wonderlab
We went to the Science Museum. We were told about what we could do in Wonderlab. It was really great watching the science show and we liked exploring liquid nitrogen and how it freezes things. I learnt a lot more about science, about how light works and how sound travels.

Putting out the Great Fire of London
Last Friday the Year 2 children visited Ripon Fire Station as part of the work they are completing on the Great Fire of London. The children wowed the fire fighters with all their knowledge of the Great Fire of London before setting the houses they had made alight demonstrating how the fire travelled quickly, from one house to the next and from one street to the next. The children then found out about the fire service today. They looked at lots of the equipment on the fire engine and got to sit in the fire engines with the sirens going.
Year 2 Welcome Worship
Year 2 led worship last week on the theme remembering. All parents participated in a game created by the children to test their memory. We then looked at a short video about Remembrance Day and reflected about things we are thankful to the armed forces for whilst sharing pictures in a slide show of images from wars. The children finished with a prayer and a song. The parents were then invited into the classroom to make poppies with the children. Thank you to all those who attended.

Lily our poster designer has been very impressed with ALL the artwork that has been sent in for the poster. Lily has had a very hard job of picking which bits should go onto the poster. The poster is very nearly finished. Once finished the chosen pieces of artwork will be revealed.
We hope everyone has had a great day in non school uniform for Children In Need and that you all have a great weekend.

Community Cooking!
One of our parents, Sarita of Realitea, along with several other local cafe and restaurant owners, is involved in an exciting new project. They are starting free cookery classes demonstrating how to cook meals on a budget from scratch. The class will run on a Monday afternoon from 3.45pm in Holy Trinity Church Crypt, starting this coming Monday (November 18th) and running fortnightly thereafter. Each session will demonstrate a starter, main course and a dessert, with the emphasis on providing delicious, nutritious, healthy meals whilst working within a budget. You will even be given a bag of ingredients and a recipe card for the three dishes!
