IMPORTANT UPDATE
16 March 2020
Dear OUSD Community,
At an emergency meeting today, the Board of Education voted to close schools starting tomorrow, March 17th, with classes to resume on April 20th. The Glenn County Health Department has recommended this action as part of the larger efforts to slow the spread of the COVID – 19 virus. At this time there are no known or suspected cases of COVID 19 in Glenn County.
I want to thank our community partners, particularly the Glenn County Health Department, and the Glenn County Office of Education, for their guidance and leadership during this stressful time. I also want to recognize how wonderfully our staff has responded. Constantly and consistently, the response from staff has been to put the needs of students first.
All school related activities are suspended: including sports, extra-curricular activities, etc. Campuses are closed to everyone except school staff.
Tomorrow will be a regular work day for all staff. Staff will be working on how we can best deliver instruction to students, and provide other services beneficial to the larger Orland community.
During this time off, Free lunch will be offered to any child under the age of 18. Orland High and CK Price will serve lunch from 11am – 1pm. We will be determining whether we are able to serve breakfast as well.
We understand that this closure creates many issues for our families. Please understand that this decision was made with the health and safety of our students and families as a top priority.
During this closure please remember that continuing with safe practices will assist with slowing the spread of the virus.
• Please do not allow your student to gather in large groups.
• Remind students to stay six feet from others in social situations.
• Everyone should avoid touching their faces.
• Clean hands and surfaces frequently.
This situation remains fluid. We have been warned that things may change, so please check for updates on the District’s web site: www.OrlandUSD.net

STEM EXPO NEWS / NOTICIAS STEM EXPO
MATH IN MINUTES / MATEMATICAS EN MINUTOS
Select 2 numbers and make up a story, using any operation (add, subtract, multiply, divide). For example, 20 and 2....Mrs. Hobbs has 20 girl scout cookies and she wants to give them to Mrs. Byker and Mrs. Foster. How many cookies will each teacher get to eat at lunch?
Try it with the same numbers and change the operation....have your child make up a story with addition? You can also do this with a photo, show a photo and make up a math story.
Seleccione 2 números y cree una historia, usando cualquier operación (sumar, restar, multiplicar, dividir). Por ejemplo, 20 y 2 ... Sra.
