THINGS TO KNOW AND DO
The Middle School Athletics program is getting ready for the winter season. Registration is now open for boys’ and girls’ teams in soccer and volleyball, available to all San Diego Unified students in grades 6-8 free of charge.
From first-time players to seasoned athletes, middle school sports are a great way to stay active, learn new skills, and get involved with school.
Middle School Athletics teams represent their school in organized competition against other schools within the district, building camaraderie and new friendships while providing young athletes a structured sports experience with qualified coaching.
The teams also play at San Diego Unified high school athletic facilities, giving middle schoolers a chance to establish a connection and familiarity with their future school campuses.
Registration is now open and closes December 1.Learn more or sign up here today! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdSdkGneS1Cn5C7-zIEwOA6kAheamn5Hko0M71SptCcd2Ehpw/viewform
Native American Heritage Month
In California, the FAIR Education Act requires the contributions of both men and women, Native Americans, African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, European Americans, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans, persons with disabilities, and members of other ethnic and cultural groups, to the economic, political, and social development of California and the United States of America, with particular emphasis on portraying the role of these groups in contemporary society.”
Learning about the contributions of the above-mentioned groups and others, not only gives us a much more accurate picture of history and contemporary society but also helps build up positive role models and destroy negative stereotypes.

Ethics Activity
Hey Leopards,
As you know, on Monday, 10/30 we hosted a trick or treat ethics activity that challenged Lewis students to think: What would you have done if a bucket of candy was left out unattended, with a sign that read “please take one!”?
We wanted to see how you guys would use your ethical skills and behave when not being watched. Most of you all did good! You used your manners, waited your turn and only took 1 piece as asked. However, there were some of you who sadly didn’t, who were pushing or taking multiple pieces of candy, leaving less or none for others.
We hope that this made you pause to think about others before taking multiple pieces of candy on Halloween night too, even when no one was looking.
Feel free to take a look at these slides to brush up on what it means to live ethically!
