FPS District Equity Statement
DISTRICT AREAS OF FOCUS AND IMPROVEMENT:
- Equity and Social Justice
- Improved Instruction
- Family and Community Partnership
Our Equity Team would like to partner with our parents to fulfill our mission to support our students, staff, and families by identifying and dismantling systems that perpetuate, exacerbate, or produce inequities based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc. If you would like to collaborate with us, please let us know HERE. If you want to learn more about our commitment to EQUITY and ANTI-RACISM, feel free to contact any of our FPHS Equity Team members: Hartley, Marzano, Wright, Laban, Apelu, Brist, Call, Chapman, Detweiler, Fineman, Goodrum, Inman, Kaunda, B. Dear Parents and Students,
-
Hey Cardinals! Key Club invites you to a Chipotle Take-Over! Come to the Tacoma Mall and grab a bite at Chipotle between 5 and 9 pm on Monday, April 4th! Be sure to show the attached picture at the counter! Again, takeover Chipotle at the Tacoma Mall from 5 to 9pm on April 4th! Hope to see you there!
- Ramadan 2022: April 1 to May 1. During Ramadan, many of our students will be fasting from sun up to sun down. Let's all be particularly mindful that some of our students may experience extra fatigue, hunger, and sleeplessness during this time. Students and families, please communicate with teachers if you have any special needs or considerations during this time that will allow us to support you during Ramadan. Please, see the video below to learn more.
- Please, read important info below about construction starting for our new Performing Arts Center. This will impact parent pick up and drop off locations starting Monday after Spring Break.
- Daily Activity Bus: The intent of the activity bus is to provide transportation for those students who participate in sports, clubs, and activities. Only students with a pass or with their name on a sports roster will be allowed to ride the activity bus.
If you ever need to see our Daily Bulletin announcements, use this LINK. Running Start and Pierce County Skills Center students, please use this link to keep up to date with FPHS announcements.

NEW Performing Arts Center!
We are very excited about breaking ground on our new Performance Arts Center! We are in eager anticipation of the day that we can fully showcase the talents of our band, orchestra, choir, drama programs, and so much more!
- Part of the "cost" for a new Performing Arts Center is going to be a little dust, a lot of change, and even a few inconveniences. Please, bear with us as we enter the "under construction" phase starting Monday after Spring Break with an estimated completion date of the start of the 2023-24 school year.
- In Phase 1 of the project, we will lose our staff and visitor parking lots in the front of the school (everything between the library and the tennis courts). As a result, all staff and students must park together in the current student parking lot alongside 112th St. The section nearest the tennis courts will be reserved for staff parking. The section nearest the stadium will be reserved for student parking. See below for a visual.
- Also in Phase 1, we need to fully reconfigure our student pick-up and drop-off zones for parents. See below for a visual.
- During the first few days or weeks of implementation, we will have extra staff out front helping to direct traffic. Please, allow yourself some extra time (10 min) as we all get used to the new system.
- The Performing Arts Center will become the new "face" of the school and will sit where the current flag pole and drop off loop sits.
- As with all construction projects, almost everything is subject to change. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
