Home & School Meeting - Monday 10/7

YES!! There WILL BE a Home and School Meeting this Monday night, October 7 at 7 pm in the Library.


In addition to the usual Home and School business, Dr. Graf will introduce parents to a multi year initiative being launched this year - Vernfield: Classrooms for 21st Century Teaching and Learning. Please come and join us for the presentation of this dynamic opportunity for the Vernfield students and staff.

J&A Charity Vendor Bingo - Raffle Sneak Peek

Don't forget to mark your calendar and join us for the J&A Charity Vendor Bingo event at the Tylersport Fire Station on Sunday October 13! In addition to the 20 different vendors supplying Bingo prizes, the HSA will be raffling off many fun, valuable and MUST have prizes! Check out a preview below of just some of the items up for grabs.

TB Testing

There will be a TB testing clinic for parent volunteers on:


October 14,15,16


Parents should call 215.721.0606, prompt 3, to schedule an appointment. TB tests are required for Program Volunteers, which includes field trip chaperones.


*NOTE: A TB test only needs to be done once in a volunteer's career at SASD, it does not expire.

Tastings of the Valley - Benefitting IVEF

Please come for a fun night out to sample local food, drinks, and raffles at The Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce's annual Tastings of the Valley Event held on Tuesday, October 22nd from 5:00PM-7:30PM at Franconia Heritage Banquet and Conference Center. The Indian Valley Education Foundation will receive a portion of the proceeds! Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door.

In Case You Missed It...

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY AT GIANT:

Giant is selling reusable shopping bags which contain a tag with a code number that will earn Vernfield HSA $1 for each code entered. The bags are located by the check out at the Harleysville Giant. Purchase a bag for $2.50. Go to the MyGMCause.com website within 7 days of your purchase, enter the code located under the scratch off portion of the tag and choose Vernfield HSA as your non-profit (we are located on the third page of the list).



ATHLETIC SHOE DRIVE:

The HSA has partnered with Got Sneakers for an Athletic Shoe Drive to raise funds and to help keep the shoes out of landfills. New or used sneakers in wearable condition will earn more for us but we will be accepting sneakers and cleats in any condition. Sneakers with rips, holes, separated soles will be recycled. Shoe donations will be accepted until the Thanksgiving break.

VOLUNTEER CLEARANCES:

ALL VOLUNTEERS need to fill out the Registration and Disclosure Statement EACH YEAR. There are two categories of volunteers:

  1. Casual Volunteers (less than 10 hours per school year and works in the presence of a teacher/administrator with students).
  2. Program Volunteers (10 or more hours and may have unsupervised contact with students). This includes field trip chaperones.

Details regarding what forms must be filled out can be found on the SASD Volunteer website. NOTE: PPD skin test for tuberculosis can be done privately or through the school nurse by making an appointment on 10/14, 10/15, or 10/16. Please note, Program Volunteers are required to renew these clearances every 60 months. If you would like to check your clearance status or have any questions, please contact the Vernfield main office, 215-721-0606.

SPANISH CLUB - will begin on Monday, October 7! Instructional Cost for the entire 24 week program (includes a snack and a drink that will be provided for each child every class):


  • BEGINNER-(30 minute class) $200 /child or $180/child (for the 2 nd or more sibling)
  • ADVANCED-(45 minute class) $225/child or $205/child (for the 2 nd or more sibling)
