Letter from the Principal
To Our Teeland Families:
Happy Thanksgiving! During these challenging times, it can be difficult to remember to pause and be grateful for the many good things that are happening. I would like to share a few of the many things that I am grateful for in regard to Teeland Middle School:
• I am grateful for teachers that work harder than any other teachers I have worked with in my 21 years in education
• I am grateful for students that enjoy and appreciate being in school
• I am grateful for support staff that see the BIG picture and make sure school is functioning and communication is going out
• I am grateful for our Teeland families who are the backbone of a well-functioning educational system
THANK YOU!
Our quarter two progress reports have been posted on ParentVue, so please check on your student's work and contact their teachers, or counselor, if you have any concerns. Students should have assignments this week, Nov. 23-25th, even though we are working remotely. If you do not have internet, please contact the school so we can gather assignments for you to pick up or have delivered.
We heard back from parents on how remote learning went the last time we had to shift to working from home. The survey results were mostly positive, but there was feedback on areas to improve, so thank you to those that responded. Please continue to let us know if your family’s needs are not being met.
TMS is still planning our Title I Family Fun Event on December 3rd, 5:00-7:30. The flyer is available below and on our website. We are meeting up at Government Peak Recreation Area for an outdoor winter recreation night. The goal of this event is to encourage families to take advantage of the opportunities that we have available in our state and borough parks! We will be providing hot cocoa and sleds, but the chalet is only open for restroom use. We ask that anyone that enters the chalet put on a mask, and that masks are worn outside too, unless families are social distancing.
TMS is STRIVING forward as we work together to continue a strong academic delivery and take care of each other! Have a safe and happy holiday season.

Safety Information from Mr. Butler
Parents/Guardians
Please be mindful if your child is wearing shorts to school on extremely cold days. If there is a fire drill or an emergency, your child may be outside in freezing temperatures. Unfortunately, one of our school busses was involved in an accident and several students were subjected to the cold prior to evacuation.
As a safety reminder please refrain from using your cell phone while driving through the school pickup area. If you need to call a student, stop your vehicle, and make the call. We have numerous students moving in all directions while vehicles are in motion. One distracted second can result in a lifelong tragedy.
ESPN Recognizes Teeland Middle School as a Special Olympics Unified Champion School
A Special Olympics Unified Champion School endeavors to create an inclusive school climate and to promote a sense of collaboration, engagement and respect for all members of the student body and staff. A Unified Champion School receiving national banner recognition is one that has demonstrated commitment to inclusion by meeting 10 national standards of excellence. These standards were developed by a national panel of leaders from Special Olympics and the education community.
Congratulations to Teeland Middle on being an ESPN Honor Roll School this year! The ESPN Top 5 schools were announced and schools were selected from Delaware, Iowa, Minnesota, New Mexico and Vermont. We’re still so proud of Teeland being named an Honor Roll School and all your program does and continues to do to promote inclusion!
