MATHEMATICS PLACEMENT TESTING
All incoming freshmen are required to take a Mathematics Placement Test, before the start of their 9th grade year. We provide this test to establish a fair, objective, and transparent protocol for placement in mathematics courses for students entering 9th grade, in order to ensure the success of every student and to meet the Legislative intent of the California Mathematics Placement Act of 2015.
This year the Mathematics Placement Test is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12th at 10:00am. If CDE, ACOE and CDC guidelines allow, the test will be administered in person on the Silver Oak campus (with health and safety requirements in place). Please mark your calendars for this mandatory testing.
We will keep you updated, throughout the summer, of any changes to the guidelines.
REOPENING SCHOOL WITH THE HYBRID MODEL
The video recording of the June 8th OHS Parent Meeting provides a full explanation of the Hybrid A/B format and schedule. This video can be found on the Home page of the school's website http://www.silveraokmontessori.org.
CARPOOL REGISTRATION FOR THE 20/21 SCHOOL YEAR
Though we do already know the sibling groupings in the school, we will need to compile a list of the carpool groupings in order to finalize the class sections and schedules.
If you plan to be in a carpool for the 20/21 school year, please register your carpool members, on or before August 3, 2020, by emailing the school office at info@silveroakmontessori.org.
FIRST DAY OF THE 2020 SCHOOL YEAR
Thursday, August 20, 2020 is the first day of the 2020/2021 school year. If CDE, ACOE and CDC guidelines allow, all students will begin their hybrid program on that day, with health and safety requirements in place. The first day is a regularly scheduled school day, starting at 8:45am and ending at 4:00pm.
We will keep you updated, throughout the summer, of any changes to the guidelines.
COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS REQUIREMENT
Due to the COVID-19 crisis and the subsequent social distancing guidelines, community service opportunities in this East Bay Area have decreased. In response to this challenge, Silver Oak High School has reduced the required number of community service hours, needed for graduation, to 100 hours total. Students may complete these hours virtually or in person, where possible.
Please find a copy of the SOHS Community Service record-keeping form. A copy of this form can also be found on the school's website.
Students may locate virtual community service opportunities through the websites provided (see below) or find other websites that offer this option.

SUMMER WORK PERMIT
Students may obtain a work permit through Ms. Rodriguez. Once employed, the work permit request form must be completed by the parent and employer and emailed to Ms. Rodriguez (araceli@silveroakmontessori.org). It is the student's responsibility to renew their working permit, once school is back in session, by resubmitting a work permit request form. Students must carry a 2.75 GPA or higher in order to have a work permit. Attached is a copy of the work permit request form. A copy of the form can also be found on the school's website.
SUMMER OFFICE HOURS
Should you need assistance, please write us at info@silveraokmontessori.org.
The school office will reopen on Monday, August 3, 2020, at 8:30am.
