A quick note from the principal's desk...
Good Afternoon RPI Families,
What a great week for our students at RPI. We not only celebrated Homecoming Spirit week, but also learned a ton academically. Some of our students participated operation Egg Drop that helped raise snack donations for kids in need in our building, others had some great number talks in math and still others engaged in excellent discussions, reading, collaborative social studies activities and much, much more! Check out our Facebook page to see the fun! There is a link below.
Lots of information below, so I'll keep this section short this week!
Don't forget to have your kids participate in Spirit Week this week...and we have a twist for our Rocket Virtual students.
Have a great week everybody! Go Rockets!

The P2 Post
Wow...what a reminder, just in the name of the week. As I imagine many of us are, our phones never leave our side, or hand. I was recently called out by my 8 year old who said, "dad, I want to tell you and show you something, please put your phone down!" So, after I was able to catch my breath from that punch in the gut and put my pride aside (and not defend why I was looking at the phone), it reminded me of this lesson.
Simple Parent Challenge (and kid challenge too...how many times have you had to call their name because they are watching a show or playing a game and THEY DON'T HEAR YOU!)...how can you be more present with your family and friends not only this week but moving forward? We NEED to model the behaviors we expect of our kids.

ROCKET VIRTUAL UPDATES…
🚀Curriculum Corner
We want to remind families that have chosen the virtual platform that this is about what works best for your student and your family.
Edmentum is supplying the curriculum and R-P is providing the mentor support, but the overall importance of this is the individuality that is allowed for each student.
A reminder that K-6 is not held to the “credit” system like our 7-12th grade students, so we are allowed this flexibility to what is best for our 5th & 6th-grade students. This has also been communicated to the Edmentum teachers.
5th-Grade: Remember your student can also access the Exact Path Reading and Exact Path Math. This can be used as a supplement or if there are struggles with the Calvert curriculum Exact Path can be used.
6th-Grade: Your student should have noticed they adjusted the dates for course completion. This has had a huge impact on the pacing and hopefully, some relief is felt from slowing things down a bit. Also, no final exams will be given.
🚀Recordings of the Question/Answer Meetings
In case you were not able to attend the live Q & A on Thursday night the recordings are below. Many parents found the information very beneficial...Check it out if you can!

🚀Upcoming Benchmark Assessments
You and your student will be receiving information about our upcoming FastBridge benchmark assessments next week….please look for this important information!
The student will also be receiving a separate individualized email with their username and password. This is VERY important so please have your student look for this as well. I would encourage them to save it or write down the information to keep
The testing window will be from Oct.19th - Oct.28th
The students will be asked to take aReading, aMath, and mySAEBRS
🚀Attendance
It is a requirement from the state level that we have 2-way communication with all of our Rocket Virtual Students.
When you receive your weekly communication from your Rocket Mentor your student or you MUST reply to the mentor that you have received it and/or answer specific questions that they may ask within a google form.
This is how we account for your student “being present”. It is our responsibility to maintain that communication not only for state pupil accounting purposes but also for monitoring the well-being of our Rockets!
