Week of December 5, 2022

Navigation Notes

Season's Greetings Westside Families! It was great seeing so many of you at the parade Saturday evening. Thank you for supporting our Jammers!

This Friday, 12/9 will be EARLY DISMISSAL so students will be released at 1:15p.

Academic Support Program (ASP) will continue this week for all students who have received a confirmation letter to attend. REMINDER: all ASP car riders will be picked up in the SIDE Loop instead of the front like before. Please have your green tag available to show.

Fall Portrait Make-Ups and Retakes have been rescheduled for this Wednesday, December 7th. If your child is new to Westside or missed our previous session, their picture will be taken for our yearbook. You can also order prints by clicking HERE and entering your child's student ID. If you are having retakes done, please bring back the original package to swap for a new session.

Our Chorus will be performing this Saturday for the Palm Bay Breakfast with Santa at the Ted Whitlock Community Center starting at 9:30am. We are excited to showcase their talents!

As always, thank you for your support! Our office will be open Monday-Friday from 7:30AM-3:30PM. Please come on in if we can assist you in any way.

Our Explorers are Learning Every Moment of Every Day!

Here are some highlights over the last month of our Explorers doing great things during their time at school. First, Students celebrated and honored our Veterans last month with letters, projects and learning about patriotism.
Our PK students have been working hard at trying new things and learning how to move their bodies to improve coordination and fitness!
Student Leadership Council completed their Food Drive and donated over 100 items to Bayside High School's food pantry to support our community. Now they are working at bringing holiday cheer to our campus!
L3Harris Volunteers visited Westside last week to share "JA in a Day" with students. Junior Achievement is a program that teaches students financial literacy in grades K-6. Primary students learned about the differences between services and goods, local business types used in our community, and financial vocabulary. Intermediate students learned the differences between earned, saved, and donated funds, global currency and businesses, and how to create businesses that would profit in different areas of the nation and world.
The Westside Jammers performed in the Palm Bay Light Parade this past weekend. We are so proud of their efforts! Thank you to members of our Student Leadership Council who carried our banner and passed out treats to the fans!

Friday is Family Lunch Day!

We had a good turnout for our Parent/Student Lunch Day last Friday! Thank you to the families who joined us and we look forward to seeing more of you this Friday.

At this time, we must follow the parameters listed below per BPS guidelines:

  • This opportunity will only be available on Fridays.
  • Only adults on the approved pick-up list for a child will be allowed to have lunch with students. You will need to present your photo ID at the front office and receive a visitor's tag. When done, you must sign out before leaving campus.
  • A designated area will be provided for the adult and student.
  • Adults will only be allowed to eat lunch with THEIR child and we request only two adults per child please.
  • Adults who are not registered volunteers will be monitored by school staff at all times.
  • Adults will be permitted to be on campus for lunch for their child's 30-minute lunch block (times listed at end of newsletter for all classes). Once your child's lunch is over, we kindly as you to sign out and exit campus. If you have multiple children and want to have lunch with all of them, you must wait for additional lunch times in the front office, glass booth, or your vehicle.
  • You may bring in food from outside sources for your child only. Any leftover drinks or snacks will not be allowed back in class however.
