SEMS Golden Eagles Weekly Update
August 20th, 2023
Hello Families!
Thank you for your support and help this first week back with your children. We know that transitioning back to school can sometimes be stressful on families, and we appreciate you all helping your child bring their charged Chromebook daily, water to stay hydrated throughout the day, and positive attitudes to school!
I hope everyone is staying dry today! Tomorrow is expected to be a rainy day which means that traffic getting in to and out of school will be heavier than usual, so please plan accordingly. Also, depending on the level of rain during lunch, we will provide dry spaces for students to eat.
Back to School Night is a great way to meet your child's teacher and learn about how to help them be successful this year. Please Save the Date for September 7th (6th graders) and September 14th (7th/8th graders).
Our weekly update is also regularly updated on our website under 'past communications'.
For more updates, please also follow our PTO on social media (Instagram, Facebook) or through PTO linktree website or SEMS PTO website. A huge thank you to our PTO for an amazing Back to School Breakfast for Staff this week!

Drop Off/Pick Up
DROP-OFF:
Enter Schoolhouse Way- From the elementary school and following the road down the hill to the middle school. Turn right into the first driveway and follow the arrows to the student drop-off area. Have your child ready to exit your car.
This method allows the student to be dropped off in the safest location, where they will not be exposed to traffic in the parking lot, and can exit the vehicle without crossing in front of other vehicles. **There is NO ENTRY from Elfin Forest.
PICK-UP:
Please pick up students using Schoolhouse Way: After picking your student(s) up, you will be directed back up the hill to San Elijo Rd. This route will ensure a continuous flow of traffic out of the parking lot. *There will be no access to Elfin Forest Road from the parking lot until after students have cleared the campus.
Other Helpful Tips:
Schoolhouse Way is designated one-way during drop off and pick up.
Drop off quickly so others don’t have to wait.
Pull to the front of the drop off area.
Parents should never exit the car in the drop off area.
No students are allowed in the parking lot.
Have backpacks in children’s possession and ready to go.
Make pick up arrangements before drop off.
Drop off starts at 7:15 am.
Plan ahead! Leave 5 minutes earlier. The parking lot will be busy!
Say “goodbye” quickly.
Treat staff in the parking lot with respect…model that for your child.
