February Updates
Hello Blue Jay families!
Please read through the following updates for important information about our school.
We love having our Blue Jays at school! However, please remember to keep them home if they are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, upset stomach, or headache. Students must be symptom free for 24 hours to return to school.
Students in quarantine must connect daily to the school for their attendance record to be coded with a C. If we do not hear from you and no work is completed, the student will be marked Absent Unexcused.
COVID-19 Update
Unless they have been fully vaccinated, students who are exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 must quarantine and will be given specific quarantining instructions by Lane County Health Authority regarding a return date. For the health and safety of your child and all students and staff at CES, please inform the school if your student has been exposed in this way.
COVID continues to be a great concern for all of us and we appreciate your support as we work together to keep our students safe and healthy. Please make sure your student has a well-fitting mask that is replaced or laundered on a regular basis and make frequent handwashing, for 20 seconds, a normal part of your routine. Please click here to check the SPS website for additional information about vaccines and other resources.
VACCINES & BOOSTERS
Children 5-17 years old are up-to-date on their COVID vaccines if they have completed their primary series of vaccinations plus two weeks. Quarantine protocols are determined based on the level of vaccine that a person has.
We encourage all eligible individuals to ensure that they are up-to-date with this vaccine as it is one of the most powerful ways to limit the spread and seriousness of COVID-19 symptoms.
To find information about vaccination clinics available throughout our community visit www.lanecounty.org/vaxclinics.
WARM CLOTHING
Please remember that students will go outside for recess every day. Please make sure they have a warm outdoor clothing. Also, please remind your student to check the Lost and Found for any missing items.
Let's have an outstanding February!

Care & Connect
Confident kids are more likely to motivate themselves, ask for help, learn from mistakes, and take on new challenges. Kids are also more likely to stand up for themselves when they are confident and secure in who they are. Tips for Raising Confident Kids Model confidence yourself. Don't get upset about mistakes. Encourage your kids to try new things. Allow kids to fail. Praise perseverance. Teach kids to set goals. Celebrate effort versus outcome.

Message from the Principal
Our students are really hitting their stride in their academic efforts and we are seeing them make great progress in their learning. Our teachers and other staff work hard everyday to provide excellent instruction in a safe and welcoming environment and it shows.
Shout out to our wonderful PTO who had the foresight to plant bulbs around the front of our school last fall! Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers and seeing these shoots coming up makes me happy in anticipation of some beautiful blooms!
We love our CES community and look forward to a great next few months!
Sincerely,
Principal Williams
