Doyle Day 2015

On Thursday, May 7th, we will celebrate “Doyle Day” with a formal assembly. The purpose of Doyle Day is to honor individuals who have made a significant contribution to our school and community. We ask that students wear their best clothing out of respect for our guests and the occasion. We also ask that you discuss the appropriate behavior for such an occasion at home. Due to the occupancy limitation in our auditorium, we will be unable to invite parents to attend, but please look for an account of the program in the Eagle Flyer. We are proud of our school heritage and look forward to celebrating with our students on Thursday.

Boomerang Awards

May Asset: #37: Personal Power - Young Person has a Healthy Sense of Personal Power.

"He/she believes they can effect change and make a difference in their school and/or community. They believe that they have some control over things that happen in their world, that things don't just happen to them.”

April Asset: #25: Reading For Pleasure

"Young person reads for pleasure most days of the week, either alone, with family members, or with friends.”

Lech Szambelak

Lech has had a love for reading since he was a toddler! We read as a family each evening. Some of his favorites are Captain Underpants, My Weird School Daze and Junie B. Jones.

He is excited to tell us about the new library books he chose from school on Fridays. He's also known to leave the local library with 20+ books at a time. He enjoys choosing books for and reading to his little brother Roman.

Lech enjoys writing/illustrating his own short stories when he feels inspired. He learned the structure of writing a book in 1st grade this year and enjoys including "about the author" and other structural elements to his stories. We are very proud of him.
