The Battle Of Antietam took place on September 17, 1862. The battle took place between 87,000 Union Troops and 45,000 Confederate Troops. the assualt had begun when Joseph Hooker's Union corps launched an assualt on Lee's left flank. While Lee sent in his entire force, McClellan sent in less than two-thirds of his fighting force. When it came to the retreating of the Confederates, McClellan neglected to pursue them and deal a decisive blow.
