St. Jerome School Weekly Newsletter

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in your faith, so that in the power of the Holy Spirit you may be rich in hope.”
Romans 15:13
From Mr. Merrick
Dear St. Jerome Families,
Thank you to our Home and School Association, parent volunteers, and alumni volunteers (Bella Printz '20 and Nick Schafer '20) for a successful Santa Shop last week. We appreciate all of the time that was spent setting up, decorating, helping the students shop, and breaking down.
We greatly appreciate the generosity of our St. Jerome students, families, and staff as we prepare for Christmas. The residents of the Immaculate Mary Home were overjoyed with our visit last Friday; we were able to provide gifts for fifteen residents of Spin, and our collection boxes for Toys for Tots were overflowing with presents for children in need. These are all examples of living our Catholic faith here at St. Jerome.
In addition, we raised more funds for the spirit day than we needed to purchase the gifts for Spin. This is thanks to Mrs. Kennedy's efficient shopping skills as well as your generosity. Therefore, in the spirit of Christmas, we are also making a small donation to our neighbors at Visitation Catholic School in Kensington. Their school was recently vandalized and flooded by burglars who removed laptops as well as copper pipes from their heating system.
Friday is a free, Christmas-themed dress down day that is included as a benefit of the Activity Fee; therefore, no donation is necessary.
Also on Friday, Fr. Reilly will be celebrating our 10:00 AM December school liturgy with the help of Mrs. McConnell's 6th grade class as readers and gift bearers. We will also recognize our Students of the Month for December, and the liturgy will be livestreamed on our church and school Facebook pages. After the liturgy, our Student Council is sponsoring a STEM activity where each homeroom will compete to build a Christmas tree. We will have a treat from our Home and School Association and a Christmas movie in the afternoon.
Christmas break begins on Friday with dismissal (regular time: 2:35 PM). Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022. The Mass and Confession schedule for Christmas at St. Jerome is below. We wish you all a very pleasant conclusion to Advent, Merry Christmas and happy New Year. May you all have a safe, restful, and peaceful break. St. Jerome, pray for us!

Meet Mrs. Badman
Hi, my name is Margaret (Margie) Badman. I love working with younger children so I am thrilled to join St. Jerome School in first grade. I earned my teaching degree from Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania. There is no greater joy than seeing little ones learn something new especially when seeing their eyes light up with sudden understanding. I have taught every grade level from preschool through high school. One year, I traveled to Spain to teach high school science at a missionary school. I taught second and third grade for a number of years before taking time off to raise my three boys. Now one is in Florida, another in Virginia and my youngest is a junior at Conwell-Egan Catholic High School in Bristol, PA. In my free time, you might find me reading an exciting mystery book, gardening in my backyard vegetable garden, baking some chocolate chip cookies or taking care of my handsome boys. I look forward to a wonderful rest of the year!
