Principal's Message

Dear Sabre families,

We hope everyone had a nice Labour Day weekend and are looking forward to some cooler, yet pleasant few days of weather ahead.

Many ‘cool’ moments resonated since the start of student registration, building up to the first few days of classes which were filled with welcome week activities. Ultimately, we want and wish for all of our students to be excited for school but we do understand that it takes some longer to get adjusted to a new year and building, which is absolutely normal and natural. Hence, we are mindful and intentional of ‘looking out for one another’ in getting our Sabres adjusted to the start of the new year.

A big shoutout to our Grade 11 and 12 students for their leadership in welcoming our Grade 10’s and helping them navigate their new ‘digs’ and helping them find classes.

As a note, this is the highest student population at SAL this century. Therefore, we have closed our student registration for the remainder of the year. Thank you to those families who have been patient waiting for a student locker as we have run out and are devising a plan in short order. We will reach out to those on the waiting list this week.

This week, we will continue to ‘hunker’ down into classes and build off a successful first week and into an established routine. Next week, please stay tuned for all the wonderful opportunities for our Sabres on Opportunity Wednesday’s, where our day ends at 2:20 p.m.. As a refresher, academic support, fine arts and CTS offerings, mental and physical wellness, post-secondary information, and will be showcased in our Opportunity Wednesday’s for the year.

If your student missed having their photo taken, ICON Photography returns on Thursday, September 8, 2022. ICON will be here in the morning, and students will be called down by grade level to have their photo taken. ICON will also return on October 20 for retakes, so no retakes are taken on September 8.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
