Illinois State Board of Education 5 Essential Mitigation Steps
Although we are making some changes to our school day, the Illinois State Board of Education requires that schools must apply the following five essential mitigation steps:
- Require universal and correct use of PPE, including face masks.
- Require 6 feet social distancing observance as much as possible.
- Require contact tracing in combination with isolation of those with suspected or confirmed COVID-19, and quarantine close contacts in collaboration with the local health department
- Require an increase in school-wide cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of healthy environments
- Require promotion and adherence to handwashing and respiratory etiquette
Arrival and Dismissal
Students will continue to enter the building through the doors that were designated for their grade level:
Kindergarten - Door 2
1st Grade - Door 6
2nd Grade - Door 12
3rd Grade - Door 1
4th Grade - Classroom Doors
5th Grade - Door 11
Student entering through a door different than their designated door will be directed to the appropriate door.
Doors will open when the 9:35am bell rings. School doors will remain open for 10 minutes and will close when the 2nd bell rings at 9:45am. Students arriving to school after 9:45am will need to enter Door 1 and parents must sign them in. Students will be marked tardy after 9:50am.
Car drop-off and pick-up must take place on Alchester (south of building) or on Chase (north of building). Please avoid using the main drive as a drop off location to help keep everyone safe.
Students who walk home will be dismissed at 3:27 p.m. to help keep hallways less congested. This is a similar process that is currently in place. All other students will be dismissed at the 3:30pm bell.
Lunch at Lincoln
Students will receive a 30 minute lunch and will be seated 6 feet apart in accordance with CDC guidelines. Lunch will take place in the lunchroom and/or an additional space depending the grade level. Unfortunately, no outside food will be allowed to be dropped off and we are not allowing visitors to eat lunch with students. Students can only leave with a family member for lunch and must be signed out and in through the office. Here is the lunch schedule for the remainder of the year:
- 10:45 - 11:15 - 3rd grade
- 11:20 - 11:50 - ADK
- 11:55 - 12:25 - 1st Grade
- 12:30 - 1:00 - 2nd Grade
- 1:05 - 1:35 - 4th Grade
- 1:40 - 2:10 - 5th Grade
Serving Breakfast and Lunch
All students will have the opportunity to eat a breakfast or lunch, if needed, at no cost for the remainder of the school year. We do encourage you to send your child with a lunch from home, but we will have breakfast/lunch available for any student that needs one.
If you send your child to school with a lunch and they need milk, there will be a .50 cent charge for the milk. Please include a drink with your child's lunch if you would like to avoid this charge.
Below, you will find more information about what is included with breakfast and lunch if your child opts to take one. Teachers will complete an order form each morning to help us prepare the number of meals needed each day.
Breakfast:
Breakfast consists of a packaged item (cereal bar, muffin, etc.), fruit of the day and choice of milk. Click here to access the April breakfast menu.
Lunch:
Lunch consists of one cold option, fruit, veggie and will come with milk. There will be no warm options and students will not walk through a food line. Click here to access the April lunch menu.
Recess
- While a traditional 30 minute recess is not scheduled for the remainder of the year, teachers will have the opportunity to provide a 15-minute scheduled recess.
- Playground equipment will be available to students during recess only. When using playground equipment, the CDC requires the following guidelines: physical distancing, masking, sanitize hands before and after use and clean the equipment each morning.
- Rationale for length of recess:
- Physical education has been increased from 20 to 30 minutes
- We continue to follow safety protocols of contact tracing and social distancing
- Masks must be worn unless students are 6 feet apart
We will continue to evaluate state guidance and update information as we progress through the school year.
PE, Art and Music
Students will have PE, art and music the remainder of the school year. Art and music will take place in grade level classrooms due to space considerations. PE will take place in the gym or outside, depending on weather conditions.
