THE PTO NEEDS YOUR HELP!

The PTO is collecting donations so that we can purchase holiday gift cards for every faculty member, including the janitorial and cafeteria staff. We know that our teachers and administration work incredibly hard. There are so many hands that support your child, and even though you may have something planned for your scholar's teacher, we want to make sure we show our gratitude to everyone!

We know everyone's budgets are different this time of year, so give whatever amount feels right to you. We'll pool it all together and spread it out equally.

Help us spread some holiday cheer!

Franklin's uniform dress code is being fully enforced across all grade levels.

Students are required to wear a polo shirt with the school logo and the required Franklin bottoms. Non-Franklin sweatshirts, sweaters, and/or jackets are NOT permitted. In the event that the temperature outside is 40 degrees or below, scholars may wear a non-Franklin jacket; however, hoodies are not permitted to be worn at any time. In addition, plain black or brown dress-style belts MUST be worn by students in grades 2-8, and shirts are required to be tucked into skirts/skorts, shorts, and pants.

Click here for the iUniforms website.

Uniform infractions will be given to any scholar who is not following the above uniform requirements.

Please remind your scholar that gum is not allowed and cell phones must be turned off and kept in his/her backpack until he/she is picked up from school.

Cell phones may NOT be used curing carline for any reason.

Scholars in grades 3-5 attended a motivational assembly this morning and were introduced to USA Test Prep’s Green Dot Challenge.

This program was created to encourage students to practice for the upcoming Florida Standards Assessment by completing assignments that are specifically geared towards your child’s weakness in Reading.

Below are the steps that must be followed in order to successfully complete the challenge that begins TODAY, December 10, 2021, and ends April 1, 2022.

CLICK HERE TO VIEW PICTURES WITH THE STEPS

Step 1: Log on to USA Test Prep using Clever

Step 2: Independent Practice can be accessed from the left side of your homepage. Click the "Practice" link from the menu.

Step 3: Select the subject area that you would like to study.

Step 4: If you've already completed any activities or assessments, your Dot Rank will reflect your cumulative score for each standard. A grey dot indicates that no activities have been completed yet for a standard. Consider working in standards where you have a pink dot first. Several types of practice activities are available: videos, vocabulary, questions, and performance tasks. Click any activity to begin.

Step 5: Because this is considered an independent practice that your teacher did not assign to you, you'll need to select your teacher and class. Click the "Begin" button.

Step 6: Once you've completed an activity with a score of over 66%, the Learning Category, Star Progress Bar, and Dot Rank will all update accordingly. ALL videos, vocabulary, questions, and performance tasks must be completed to earn a gold star in one section.

Step 7: Repeat Steps 1-5 to master all of the yellow dots, then move on to the red dots. Complete all of the assignments.

DECEMBER IB ATTRIBUTE OF THE MONTH

Big picture

The IB Learner Profile aims to develop students who are inquirers. Students who are inquirers nurture their curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. They know how to learn independently and with others. Inquirers learn with enthusiasm and sustain their love of learning throughout life.

If you see your scholar demonstrating inquiring, please email Ms. Hanza at hanza.leah@franklin-academy.org so we can celebrate your scholar!

ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

ARRIVAL

It is important that all students understand the importance of regular school attendance. In addition, it is important that students report to school on time. Instruction begins promptly at 7:45 AM for students in K-5 and 8:45 AM for students in grades 6-8. As a reminder breakfast will be provided 7:15 AM-7:40 AM for students in K-5 and 8:15 AM-8:40 AM for students in grades 6-8.

DISMISSAL

Dismissal is 2:30 PM for students in grades K-5 and 3:30 PM for students in grades 6-8. Parents of students in grades K-5 are not permitted to “stack” until 2:10 PM, and parents of students in grades 6-8 are not permitted to stack until 3:10 PM. Parents of students in grades K-5 who are not picked up by 3:00 PM will be charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute, per student. Parents of students in grades 6-8 not picked up by 4:00 PM will also be charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute, per student. Parents must come into the lobby to sign out their scholar.

Students who walk or ride their bikes are to sign out in the front lobby and leave the campus within five minutes of the dismissal bell. All students walking or riding bikes must have an authorization form signed by a parent/guardian on file in the school office. Parents who complete this form acknowledge the risk associated with allowing a child to arrive/leave campus unaccompanied by an adult. These forms must be updated annually and may be found on the school’s website.
