Jefferson Journey
Jefferson in Bloom ~ Jefferson Florecido
11.1.23
Hello Jefferson Families!
We hope that you all are staying healthy and warm as the temperatures cool off! As we start into November - please know that we are immensely grateful to be able to work with your child each day! Please let us know if there is any way that we can support your family. Along with the colder temperatures comes sickness going around. Please be sure to keep your child home when they are ill. You can take a look at the graphic below to know when your child should stay home to rest.
Turn Your Clocks Back
Be sure to turn your clocks back one hour this weekend before you go to sleep on Saturday night!
When a Child Should Stay Home
Talking with your Kids
As a parent, one of MY biggest struggles is getting my own child to tell me about their day - what they learned, what they liked, what they did, etc. I always get the same answers: "It was fine" or "We didn't do anything." Does this sound familiar to you? I was trying to find other questions to ask my child that would get more conversation happening. Here are some things I found - hopefully they will help your home conversations, too!
If you want to know about your child's feelings:
- What is something that made you smile today?
- If you could invent a new feeling, what would it be called? How would you describe it?
- If your mood were a type of weather, what would it be? Would it be sunny, cloudy, stormy, or something else?
If you want to know about your child's learning:
- Can you teach me how to...?
- What is one thing you learned today?
- Can you tell me about a story you hear / read today?
- What is something that made you proud at school today?
If you want to know about your child's friendships / interactions with others:
- If you could choose your seat partner, who would it be? Why?
- Who is someone at school that makes you feel safe?
- Who is someone you played with today?
- What games did you play at recess today?
If you want to know about your child's interests:
- If you could be the teacher for a day, what would you teach about?
- If you became president, what is the first thing you would do?
- Who is someone you'd love to meet in real life?
- If you could teleport anywhere, where would you go right now?
