Message from the Principal
Dear Advantage Arts Family,
Thank you for your patience as we navigated the December festivities. These past weeks have been a great learning experience for our school community. The families have been incredibly supportive attending our activities. We are excited to learn from what we have done and make it even better for the next time.
On a different note, I want to reiterate how important the safety of our school community is to us. This includes our students, faculty, and staff. We are working to provide the safest environment for your students' education. I have been impressed with the help and support of the parents volunteering in classrooms and other parts of the school. We truly are growing as an Advantage Arts Family.
Another "Thank You" to the donations and time parents have made to help our teachers and staff feel special the past two weeks. We hope each of you have a safe and happy holiday break! We look forward to seeing you back in January.
Mr. Kano

Lost and Found
There has been a lot of coats and jackets accumulating in our lost and found. Please remember we will hold items for 4 weeks and on the 5th week we will donate left over items. All items put out during parent teacher conference have been donated. Please make sure to check as soon as items are lost, we keep the current weeks lost and found in the lunch room but if your items aren't found there, please check with the front office.
Center Stage
1st Grade Winter Mittens
In first grade we read the book The Mitten and talked about the problems and solutions in the book. We designed our own pair of mittens to make sure they wouldn't get lost in the snow. Students traced their hands to make their mittens the right size and came up with their own patterns. Then they added them to a background and used oil pastels to make snowflakes.
2nd Grade Reindeer Drawings
In second grade we learned the basics of how to draw a cartoon-style reindeer. Then we used our creativity to make each reindeer our own by adding lots of details. These were so fun to make and got us in the Winter mood. We can't wait for Winter break!
5th Grade Explosion Books
In fifth grade we have been learning about the three states of matter and how they change states. In order to review what we've learned, we made explosion books that illustrate the three states and how they change. We learned how to fold paper and cover cardboard to make an explosion book. The results are amazing!
Get Involved
We have so many fun opportunities to volunteer at our amazing school and be part of all of the fun!
Our next big volunteer opportunity is Our Valentine Parties in February. Check in with your students teachers to see if there is anything they may need help with!
Thank you to everyone that has volunteered so far this year. You are the reason Advantage Arts Academy is so amazing.
We are looking for volunteers with tiling experience that could help install a tile mural that the students worked on last year. The mural will be indoors and is about 8'x5'. If you or someone you know could help with the tools and installation please contact the art teacher, Mrs. Redd at mredd@advantagearts.org
