WBMS Friday Notes
February 11-14
Reflections from Ms. Perkins
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
Our first Kindness Week was a huge success! Our building is plastered with positive images; doors and lockers all over the school contain heart-felt encouraging words, and they are not coming down just because the week has ended. Watching our students greet their peers with high fives, write kind notes to one another and the staff, add their name to the positive pledge, leave sweet messages on lockers, award staff members with Webb Way cards, and finally bring in cans to help feed our community was simply indescribable. There were times this week my cheeks actually hurt from smiling. We are proud of our students for their amazing academic, athletic, and performance achievements; but in the end, we want them to be caring people, ones who make the world a better place. Last month we surveyed all students and asked if there were any words we should consider adding to the “Webb Way” (respect, citizenship, and responsibility). The number one answer by a landslide was kindness. Love on your children tonight and thank them for making a positive difference at school this week. Enjoy the long weekend!

Volunteers are required to report at the JA Discovery Center at the Gwinnett Discovery Center at 8:30 am for training. Volunteers will not ride the bus with us, but we can help you work out carpools with other parent volunteers on that day. You may also ask friends or co-workers. Your child has a dream, a vision for what their future can be. The JA Discovery Center provides students with opportunities to make those dreams a reality. There, your child will partake in a best in class simulation experience that will give them the tools to own their own economic success.
In the classroom they will have learned the fundamental skills they’ll need for this day, all that is missing is YOU to bring it all home! We would like to extend the invitation. Come along and support your student and their classmates. As a parent/community volunteer, you will not only share your life experiences to mentor and coach students through their day but you will also help the days learning transcend past the JA Discovery Center visit. We welcome all professions, your life experience and determination to succeed means you can serve as a volunteer. If you have ever had a job or paid a bill…you are the PERFECT volunteer!
