GHS Wins Melissa UIL Sweepstakes!
This past weekend, the GHS UIL Academic, Speech and Debate teams participated in the Annual Cardinal Winter Classic UIL Invitational Tournament at Melissa HS. Taking students in every competition in Speech, Debate, and Academics, GHS came out victorious in the end, placing 1st in the overall Academic Sweepstakes competition, with the most points based on all placings for all academic contests. In this case, a true SWEEP of the competition was had!

Pictured with Officer Hamilton of the GPD is Retired officer Michael Hill, whose many accolades and instructor certificate qualified him to teach the Law Enforcement classes at Gainesville High School. As a District of Innovation, GHS has the flexibility to hire the most qualified instructors to teach classes such as these and offer a wide variety of CTE courses for our students.

2nd Annual Leopard Powerlifting Meet Results
BOYS WIN FIRST PLACE
The boys powerlifting team competed in the home meet this past weekend. The guys did a fantastic job of competing in front of the home crowd. They walked away with the first place plaque. Medals were given to the top three finishers in each weight class. The guys brought home 9 medals. There were some new meet records set as well. Chon Hernandez once again walked away with the Outstanding Lifter Award for the 181 to SHW ClassesGIRLS FINISH 3RD PLACE
They set some new meet records and brought home 4 medals (Jazmine Tejada, Yelena Martinez, Mattie Sherwin and Kallie Flowers). Medals were given to the top 3 finishers in each weight class. The girls continue to work hard each and every day and it shows on Saturdays. Jazmine Tejada once again brought home the Best Lifter Award for the 97-148 classes.
