Chapman's September Newsletter

Mrs. Stokes' Notes
One of the highlights of my first few weeks as Chapman principal has been the chance to greet families as they pick up or drop off students before and after school. This experience has led to an increase focus on efforts to make our drop off and pick up times as safe as possible for our students. This has become a top priority and our school has been working with families and local troopers to remind community members about the importance of honoring school zones and crosswalks. These times before and after school can be a precarious time for students. Ensuring that we are working together as a community to keep students safe is extremely important.
Finally, I encourage each family to get involved in the happenings at the school. It is a great way to see what your kids are learning and helps connect their learning to what is happening at home. It also helps families make connections with other families in our community. Our focus for the year is finding joy in education and we are hoping that by getting involved whether it be by joining a committee or attending an event, you too can find joy in what is happening at Chapman.

Thank you Anchor Point Food Pantry! 🍕
The Anchor Point Food Pantry earned a grant to provide the school with extra snacks and food to send home with students. At this time, they don't quite have enough funds to provide each student with a bag of snacks for the 2 weekends a month that bags are passed out. The Food Pantry is hoping to gain the funds to extend these bags to all students. A similar program has been adopted at Ninilchik School and it has been very successful.
8th Grade Trip Updates
8th Graders to Yellowstone
The 8th graders, their families, and teachers are planning a trip to Yellowstone in March. Families of 8th graders participated in family meeting on Tuesday, where information was shared about regarding planning, fundraising, and eligibility. The goal is to make this trip accessible to all 8th graders who are enrolled at Chapman by the end of 1st quarter.
Dessert/Silent Auction Donations Needed!
The 8th graders will be participating in their first fundraiser for their trip on September 2nd. There will be a silent auction/dessert auction being held at the VFW from 1:00-7:00. Donations need to be dropped off at the Anchor Point VFW at noon. Help support these kids!
