Asynchronous Day Reminder
Friday, March 26, has been rescheduled to an asynchronous learning day to support our staff in planning for the return to full in-person on Monday, April 5. Just a few of the activities for which additional plan time is needed include collaboration regarding curriculum pacing, remote classroom setup, finalization of class lists, and seating charts.
Students will not report to school but will be expected to engage in asynchronous learning activities that will be sent out by their classroom teacher as regularly scheduled on March 26. Any student absences should be reported per regular protocols on the District 181 website, www.d181.org.
CSCI Survey
Surveillance Testing
As we return to full in-person school on Monday, April 5, one of the components that will add another layer of safety for our students and staff is our voluntary surveillance testing program.
As you know, asymptomatic children can spread the virus. Some children do not have symptoms when infected with SARS-CoV-2, and outbreaks occur when the coronavirus spreads silently through the community. Therefore, please consider signing-up for testing and taking advantage of our school’s quick and easy collection process. To sign up, simply log in to your Skyward account and click on “Forms.” We hope that this additional layer of safety, along with our other mitigation efforts, will help your child and our entire school community stay safe.
More information on Surveillance Testing can be found at d181.org/reopening and in the Surveillance Testing Information Booklet.
Class Size Information by Grade Level
Based on today’s enrollment numbers, we are now able to share that all District 181 classrooms have 4 feet or more of distancing between students (center to center). If you have specific questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.
Safety Reminders-Full Return on April 5th
Student Arrival and Dismissal Procedures:
Student arrival begins at 8:25 a.m. There is no staff supervision before 8:25 a.m.
Students should continue to enter through their assigned grade level door.
There will be a staff member assigned to each grade level door to assist students as needed.
Students should stand on the social distance markers on the sidewalks by their doors and remain 6 feet apart at all times.
Masks are required on school property (this includes adults).
Students will sanitize their hands upon entry into the school.
Walkers/Car Riders will be dismissed at 3:10 each day.
Bike Riders:
Students should walk their bikes once on school property and lock their bike on a bike rack.
Only students in grades 3,4, and 5 are permitted to ride their bikes to school.
At the end of the day, bike riders should leave school property right away.
Walkers:
Students walking to school should head directly to their grade level door to enter the building.
At the end of the day, walkers should use the pedestrians crosswalks and leave school property right away.
Car Line:
The car lines are for drop off and pick-up only. Parents should remain in their car at all times. Students should exit and enter only from the passenger side door. This may mean that child seats need to be rearranged in your vehicles.
Students should be ready to exit the vehicle, fully masked upon arrival to the school parking lot.
Cell phone use on school grounds is prohibited.
Pull all the way forward and follow the directions of the staff members on duty.
All parents and students must use the crosswalk at all times. We cannot cross through lines of cars to get to vehicles parked. Parking in the parking lot is prohibited during drop-off and pick-up.
Lunch/Recess Procedures for Students Going Home for Lunch/Recess
Upon arrival to school each day, your student will indicate to their classroom teacher that they will be going home for lunch.
- The classroom teacher will enter the lunch absence on our attendance sheet.
- Students will exit the front office doors if they are getting picked up in the car line.
Upon returning to school, please ensure that your student goes in through the front office doors and Ms. Alberts will let them in to go to class.
Classroom teachers will take PM attendance and ensure that all students have returned from lunch/recess on time.
