Steeplechase Elementary School
12000 Grand National Boulevard Walton, KY
Dear Parents/Guardians, Students, and Community,
I am beyond excited to be named as the new principal at Steeplechase and I know we are going to be a great team. Currently entering my 22nd year in education and my 9th year as an elementary school principal, education is my passion. Receiving my education through Northern Kentucky University including undergraduate, graduate, and post gradate studies, while acquiring a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education and Health PK-12th grade; Master's Degrees in both Elementary Education and Instructional Leadership, also receiving Superintendent Certification, I guess you could say, "I am truly a Northern Kentucky girl!" In addition, I have also received graduate education credits from Harvard University in the both Closing the Achievement Gap and Principal as a Leader.
My mission and vision is to empower students, teachers, and families to achieve at high levels of learning and build a school of community. I believe that all students can learn at high levels and will instill high quality instruction that will individually meet the needs of all learners. Our school will be a safe and nurturing environment where students are treated fairly and empowered to be leaders of their own learning. At Steeplechase, we will, "Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful to each other". We will focus on learning and also be active members in our community. During our first year, we will focus on 3 big ideas or "Rocks" including Culture & Climate, Data, and Instruction. Everything that we do will build around these main ideas. We will be hiring staff and building our team to start the school year very soon.
On a personal note, I am married to my husband, Joe for the past 19 years and we have two boys Matthew (High school sophomore) and Michael (3rd grader). Trust me there is never a dull moment with our family. Being a mom of boys, I spend many hours driving to sporting events, boating, fishing, and laundry, lots of laundry. We also share our home with our beloved German-Shepard dog, "Sherman". I can't wait to meet you and your family.
More information to come weekly through school webpage and our twitter page https://twitter.com/steeplechaseEL See you soon!
