What is it?
Teen dating violence is normally pattern of behavior that includes some type of physical, emotional, verbal or sexual abuse. That occurs among individuals between the ages of 13-19 years old.
Physical Abuse and how it effects you.
Physical Abuse is hitting, punching, or throwing things. Physical Abuse is sometimes easy to cover up. Physical abuse can effect you short term and or long term. Some short term effects are the obvious cuts, scraps, and bruises. Some long term effects are PTSD (post- traumatic stress disorder) , hypertension, chronic pain syndrome.
Emotional and Verbal Abuse and how it effect you.
Emotional and Verbal Abuse is the things people say to you. Like threatening you, constant criticism, accusing, and blaming. It can effect you by PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) , cognitive impairment or memory problems.
Sexual Abuse and how it effects you.
Sexual Abuse is forcing unwanted sexual behaviors on to a person you may not be able to say no or does not want to go that far. It can effect you short or long term. Some of the effects are PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Depression, Dissociation, self blame or guilt for what happen, Changes in how they trust. Some people have nightmares or bad daydreams of it over and over again. Almost 50% of people who are sexual abuse get an STD.
