Hello CMS Family. It is so hard to believe that we left for Spring Break excited about our plans and a week off, and we are now facing such difficult times only days later. Our entire staff wants you to know that we miss our students terribly. We want to go back to school and feel normal again and we know our students are feeling the same way. Right now, safety and taking care of our health is most important. I hope you are all well. I want to thank you for the many messages of support for our school. Our CMS community always rallies and I know we are in this as a team.
I have conducted several conference calls recently in preparation for the days ahead and our teachers are excited about launching e-learning with our students. There may be some trial and error as we figure this out, but we are committed to making it meaningful and manageable for students. We want our students to have a great experience.
I encourage our students to access the online learning website that will be available Monday, March 23, 2020 on the district website. They already have access to many sites and programs to keep their brains active and we encourage them to access these resources.
I plan to send another newsletter mid-week to provide some additional information specific to e-learning.
I have been asked by some parents about access to technology to use at home. Right now, I can tell you that I can't address the scope of that need at our campus level, so MISD is discussing this right now. Please be sure to complete the survey sent to all parents today.
Finally, I want to encourage parents to prioritize the mental and physical health of your families. We are asking parents to take a leap into learning from home and you didn't ask for this and may not feel prepared. I know many families are facing personal challenges you could not have anticipated even a few days ago. I can tell you the logistics of e-learning is going to create some challenges for our family, and I am supposed to know what I am doing! I also know it can be fun if I keep things in perspective. I am committed to doing the best I can and I know each day might be different. I will probably deserve an e-learning award one day and struggle the next, and that is ok. We will be here to provide a great educational experience for your students, and you are welcome to communicate with your child's teacher during the process. Our community is strong enough to face these challenges. We will tackle this one day at a time together!
I will be in touch again soon!
We miss you!
Dr. E
