Checking out book as a ONSITE Student Sadly, onsite students cannot enter the library at this point in time. Instead, we will work with classroom teachers to coordinate delivery of books to students on Tuesdays and Thursdays (to accommodate both A and B groups). We will start off the year selecting books for younger students and base additional checkouts on the feedback we receive from them. Older students may use the catalog to place holds or just let us know what kind of books they want through interest surveys and feedback. Returns will be collected from classrooms every morning and quarantined for 72 hours before being recirculated. | Checking out a book as an ONLINE Student Online students in grades 3-6 are highly encouraged to place holds on the books they want using our online catalog system, Destiny (see help video below!). We will check these holds and check out the books to the students. Online students in grades K-2 can request to have books chosen for them by library staff OR parents can make holds for their child (See help video below). Book pickup times for online students will be every Wednesday and Friday from 12-1pm. Use our online signup to designate a day or to request another time. We will be stationed in the vestibule during pickup times. | Returning books Onsite students may return their books to classroom bins located outside of each classroom in the morning. These will be collected and checked in for quarantine every day. Online students may return books to our spiffy new bin located inside the vestibule by the main door (you will have to ring the bell). Please do NOT touch or remove any books that are in the bin already! You may also return your books when you come to pick up your new books. Books have a three week loan period, but students are encouraged to return them as they read so others can check them out. All books will be quarantined for 72 hours before being checked out again. Things to try when your chromebook is not working. It can very frustrating when you depend upon your chromebook for school and it is not working. Everyone should have a username/password as one way to login OR a Clever Badge as a second option. If you are having issues with your chromebook here are some steps to try.
| Apps, Extensions, and Games, oh my! There is a reason serious gamers buy expensive computers. They have powerful processors amd lots of RAM. Our school chromebooks do not. Our chromebooks are meant to be educational tools, not gaming and infotainment systems. If you are using the chromebook in this way and have added extensions or possibly apps, that will be slowing down its already not-speedy performance! If you would like to check on the extensions installed on your chromebook, follow these steps. Many students will have screensavers, special cursors, etc that really hinder performance. Kids love this stuff , but it's just not worth the trouble it causes on the chromebooks. The ICCSD recommends deleting any extra extensions. | Tech Help Guide Here is a Technology Help Guide created by the wonderful Hills Teacher Librarian Leanna Vincent and ICCSD Tech guru Andrew Fenstermaker. The guide will explain how to login with either username/password or Clever Badge and how to use the following resources:
If you are having difficulty with logging in to any of these it can be helpful to have your password reset. To do that email Mrs. Morey. |
Things to try when your chromebook is not working.
- Restart and login again. This may not be an option for everyone, but sometimes going to an ICCSD school building (even the parking lot) to restart and login will help because you will connect to the ICCSD network and sync up.
- Make sure your chromebook is updated by going to the settings in the bottom right corner, clicking About Chrome, and checking for updates
- Powerwash your chromebook by following these steps.
- See the next section for more!
