Your Summer Learning Possibilities!
2015 #cyberPD is all about Digital reading!
Interested in a different aspect of reading instruction? This summer's #cyberPD title is Digital Reading: What's Essential by Frankie Sibberson and Bill Bass. What a great opportunity to connect with others about reading. This year they will be using Google + to connect. If you are interested but need help, please ask! Click here for more information about this #cyberPD which begins in July.
Learn Like a Pirate by Paul Solarz is a book that I just loved reading this spring! You may be familiar with Dave Burgess' book Teach Like a Pirate. Both of these books inspired me to make changes in my teaching and learning with my students.
Both Paul Solarz (@PaulSolarz) and Dave Burgess (@burgessdave) are on twitter and I learn from them daily.
This June, an online book study began for Learn Like a Pirate. Each Monday night at 8pm, there is a twitter chat in which educators discuss the ideas from the book. This is followed by the Teach Like a Pirate chat at 9pm. Even if you do not have the book or cannot participate in the chats, you can look back at the tweets which are archived each week and can be found here. June 22 will be about chapter 4.
If you would like to participate but aren't sure about doing a twitter chat, please let myself or Lindsay know.
The 2016 Nutmeg books have been revealed and there are some terrific titles! Many students are already reading these books. Looking for some new kid books to enjoy over the summer? These would be perfect! Click here to see the lists. The elementary list is generally for grades 1-3 and the intermediate list is for grades 4-6.
