WBHS Update
10/24/22
Principal's Message
The end of the marking period is coming soon, with our final assignments and assessments ending on Monday, October 31. Grades are due to be posted in PowerSchool on or before Friday, 11/7. This grade averages with second quarter, along with any final exam at the end of the semester, to create a semester grade to be added to the transcript for credit. Students should be making sure their work is in and timely, and that they're handling any last minute needs before the end of the quarter.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be online again this year through SchoolSoft. This allows for more parents to attend from the location of their choice and for a more efficient process. Conferences will be held in the evening on Tuesday, 11/15 and again on the afternoon of Friday, 11/18. We will be sending a separate communication in the coming weeks about how to sign up and how to access the links for your student's conferences.
School Bus Safety Week ends today, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank our drivers, aides, and those in the transportation department who dedicate their efforts to getting our students to and from school and events safely every day. Please click here for the official State of Michigan Proclamation regarding School Bus Safety Week along with several statistics regarding school bus safety.
Thank you for all of your support this year with attendance and student behaviors! As we enter the colder months, there are a couple of areas we are focusing on. First, it is essential that students are in school regularly and on time. As it becomes darker earlier, and cooler in the mornings, we typically see an increase in the number of students arriving late. Please join us in making prompt arrival and attendance a focus for all. Additionally, students should not be staying after school unless they are in a club, sport, or activity. Students have from 2:23 until 2:45 to get to their supervised area. Students should not be waiting for rides for longer than that, unless they have a supervised activity that they are attending. Any student found in the hallways at 2:45 or later will be subject to disciplinary action. Please help us keep students safe and supervised by making sure they are picked up by 2:45 daily.
If you know of someone who is not receiving communication from us, it may mean they need to update their email address with us in PowerSchool. Please contact Mrs. Tunic, the counseling office administrative assistant, to update your email address. renee.tunic@wbsd.org.
The WBSD Nutrition and Food Services Department has moved to Meal Magic to manage student lunch accounts. If you have not done so already, please visit https://westbloomfield.familyportal.cloud/ in order to manage your child's account for lunch services.

If your child is a student (3 to 26 years of age) in the West Bloomfield Schools, s/he can also participate in the 2022-2023 Blessings in a Backpack program.
