Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
We have certainly seen a variety of weather this month, and I was thrilled to see some warmer temperatures and sunshine in the forecast for next week! Despite the gloomy weather, Lions Park has been a vibrant place to be with many meaningful learning experiences and some special events! Our second grade students are eagerly working on their penguin projects. Third grade students are proudly creating flags that represent their heritage, culture and family traditions. Fourth grade students continue their tour of the United States and are currently exploring the southeast. Fifth grade classes recently transitioned to science and are excited about the many hands on investigations they will be doing. Thanks to all families who attended our Family Coding Night last night. It was wonderful to see families engaged in critical thinking and fun together! We are grateful to the D57 Technology Director and his team who made this opportunity available. Thanks also to the PTO for organizing student book clubs that started this week. It has been a pleasure to hear students excited about spending time discussing books during their recess time.
We ask for your continued cooperation in maintaining a safe and orderly drop off and pick up from school. Please keep in mind that stopping to drop off children anywhere other than at the curb is an unsafe practice and causes traffic to get backed up. This can then cause other drivers to become frustrated and drive erratically. Our students learn from the behaviors that are modeled by the adults around them. It is important that safety, respect and responsibility are what our students see, if those are the behaviors we wish the children to display.
Between now and April, all cerfified staff will be sharing opportunities for you to check in with them about your child. Mrs. Grzybek and I are also happy to check in with any parent or guardian who has questions or wishes to share feedback about our school. You are welcome to schedule a time to come meet with us in person, to set up a Zoom or to call us directly. While this opportunity is not limited to this time of year, we wanted to take this opportunity to encourage you to reach out to us with questions or thoughts to share.
Warmly,
Katie Kelly
Principal
