ATTENTION: Kindergarten Class of 2036
School Calendar 2023-2024
Returning Student Registration 2023-2024
Mark your calendar for important dates regarding registration for returning students for the 2023-2024 school year.
April 10th - ONLINE REGISTRATION will OPEN for returning students. More information will be sent out the week of Apr 3, 2023.
April 17th - May 15th - Online registration assistance for families will be available at your child(ren)’s school(s) by appointment. More information to come.
May 1st - All families that have received an email from the registrar that are required to provide proof of residency will be able to email the documents to their child(ren)’s school. Please review your email for information.
May 1st - If you are providing proof of residency with an affidavit, the Affidavits for 2023-2024 will be available for download from the Gurnee School District 56 website and at each school building.
June 2nd - LAST DAY to submit online registration to receive a $20 discount on school fees for each of your students.
August 11th - LAST DAY for families to COMPLETE online registration, in order for your child(ren) to start school on the first day of school - August 23,2023.
August 11th - LAST DAY for families that received an email requiring you to submit PROOF OF RESIDENCY in order for your child(ren) to start school on the first day of school - August 23, 2023.
St. Patrick's Day Fun
Spaulding School students celebrated their good behavior by participating in "The Shamrock Shuffle," an obstacle course challenge during p.e. classes. Students chose one of six different courses. After completing each course, the student received a gold coin. The classes with the most gold coins received a special trophy. The classes were even visited by two leprechauns!
School Maker Faire
The School Maker Faire at Viking School had a full house of families enjoying STEAM activities and connecting with local makers and organizations at their 3rd School Maker Faire.
Viking Drama Presented: OZ
They were outstanding and performed for a full house.
National Honor Society Fundraiser
Gurnee Park District
Families are sure to have a hare-raising, egg-citing, and egg-cellent time at this fun filled event! The event includes an outdoor egg hunt (weather dependent), craft, and continental breakfast and pictures with the Egg Hunt Bunny. Event areas are staggered based on age groups to allow for smaller numbers while inside.
Parents and children must pre-register for this event and an adult 18+ must attend with their child/ren.
Parents and children 10 years & up attending the event MUST register for the breakfast only option (*Includes breakfast ONLY).
Times: 8:00 - 9:00am OR 9:15 - 10:15am
Location: Viking Park Community CenterApril 4 – June 10 Spring Soccer League
The spring 2023 season will start the week of Monday, April 3rd, and end Saturday, June 10th, including one Saturday for makeup games.
June 12 – August 11 Summer Camp
Gurnee Park District provides summer fun options for ages 3 – 16. All camps offer a wide variety of activities including sports, crafts, games, and special interests. Choose the best schedule for you and your family!

Lake County
Lake County renters who faced financial hardship from the COVID-19 pandemic can now apply for the Lake County Rental Assistance (LCRA) Program, which provides financial assistance to individuals to help pay rent. Eligible households may receive up to six months of assistance with rent. This can include up to one month of future rent. Households that have previously received more than six months of total assistance from programs like the Federal Emergency Rental Assistance (FERA) Program and LCRA Program will not be eligible. The application period will run from March 13 - April 14, 2023.
