Fall is Here
"Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile."
- William Cullen Bryant
With a bit more of a chill in the air, we are reminded that it is time to bundle up and prepare for the winter ahead. Despite the cooler temperatures and the idea in the above quote that winter is a joyless season that lurks ahead of all of us, I would disagree. School is a place where smiles should be prevalent year round on the faces of our students K-12 regardless of the season. That certainly was the case this past week as our elementary students had a full week that included a visit from a Yellowstone Park Ranger (see pictures below) and a Friday full of hands-on science activities (more on that next week)...Be assured that regardless of the potential dreariness that accompanies the challenging months ahead, Rock River School will strive to create an educational environment where smiles abound among students, faculty, and staff while at the same time ensuring that we maintain an environment of high expectations and learning! We hope that these factors are far more contagious than the usual maladies that affect us all over the course of a long winter!

Longhorn Nation - Yellowstone Park Ranger
Exploring Yellowstone
Our guest Yellowstone Park Ranger presents to a group of RR students grades 3-6 on a variety of topics from bears to wolves to bison. Thanks to our Elementary Rock Stars for organizing this great event for our students!
Hands on!
K-2 explores the different artifacts that were provided for more hands on learning following the presentation.
Who has questions... who has answers?
During the presentation to 3-6, students had the opportunity to ask questions and provide answers. Many students had more answers than questions as they demonstrated their vast knowledge of one of their favorite topics: Animals!
