Providing educational leadership;promoting educational excellence
For Teachers and Administrators, Grades 6-12
Description/Outcomes
Description
As we move towards embedding science practices and cross-cutting concepts into the topics we teach, how do we determine whether our instructional lessons and units support this shift in teaching and learning? The Educators Evaluating the Quality of Instructional Products (EQuIP) Rubric for science provides criteria by which to measure the alignment and overall quality of lessons and units with respect to the NGSS. Participants will learn how to utilize this tool to review existing science lessons and to inform the development of new lessons or units. Bring a unit or lesson that you’d like to revise to better reflect 3-dimensional learning!
Outcomes
As a result of attending this two part workshop , Participants will:
- Learn about the EQuIP Rubric
- Evaluate the alignment and overall quality of a lesson using the criteria provided in the Rubric
- Revise an existing science lesson using the EQuIP Rubric to reflect 3-dimentional learning
