Building Bumper Coasters
WHAT WE ARE LEARNING...
Thank you to all who came out to Parent Teacher Conferences! I appreciate your support and your desire to see your children succeed.
We have enjoyed beginning reading the book, "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio this fall.
Social Studies: Michigan's important auto industry and this week we are starting to look at the differences between immigration and migration.
Reading: This week we are reviewing the elements of poetry by reading poems by Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost. Next week we will start a new unit on Community.
Writing: Students are continue to work on mentor text sentences looking at the different part of speech as well as sentence structure. This week's story is, "The Man Who Walked Between the Two Towers."
Science: We are continuing to learn about how energy and how it can be stored as height. Students are investigating how hills give roller coasters energy by creating their own bumper coaster.
Math: Chapter 4 is on how to divide one digit numbers. New vocabulary includes: dividend, divisor, quotient, remainder, multiples, compatible numbers, and the Distributive Property. I am so proud of the hard work these kiddos have been doing in math!
