Jamestown was founded in 1607 on a river for a passageway and defense. Most people mistake Jamestown to be in a shape of a perfect triangle when it is really a right triangle (a triangle with one corner with a 90 degree angle.
How did Jamestown survive?
When supply's were running short and other mishaps started to happen, the population of the colonists started to decrease but with the help of John smith's phrase "If you don't work, you don't eat." the colonists got back on there feet.
Who encouraged and helped Jamestown?
John Smith encouraged the colonists to work harder and John Rolfe brought tobacco seeds from Britain into America.
what did the colonists have to go through?
The colonists suffered starvation and sickness, weakening there protection from the Apache Indians. but soon a supply ship with plenty of food and new colonist supported and helped them.
What crops did they plant?
With the help of John Rolfe bringing tobacco seeds to Jamestown, the colonists built tobacco farms to sell tobacco to other countries. they also grew plant crops to feed themselves with like corn and wheat.
What was so important about Jamestown?
Jamestown was the first successful colony in american land, starting of the colonization and creation of america, it also influenced other colonies with the promise of new land, freedom of religion, and freedom from other countries.
