Women's History Month
HSI Families,
We hope that you had a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break. We missed our students, and we are excited to see them!
We understand that our families will have questions about the schedule changes and will need some time to adjust. HSI will host an optional and informative Zoom session Monday evening, so that we may answer any questions that you may have about the updated schedule. Prior to releasing for the break, we were informed that HSI and other elementary schools in Texas were required to adjust their instructional minutes to meet TEA requirements. We recognize that this will impact our families and we apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Our intention is not to increase screen time. Instead, we would like to use these additional minutes for play / physical activity, promoting classroom community, supporting character education and social emotional learning, developing literacy, and providing academic support.

7:35 - 7:50 Arrival for on campus learners.
7:50 - 8:00 Homeroom: Announcements, Brain buster question, Attendance, Morning Meeting, etc. (All students login unless completing Lesson 0 asynchronously.)
8:00 - 8:50 Small group tutorials with teacher or Instructional Software This time designed to address individual learner's instructional needs (Unless otherwise directed by the teacher, remote learners may complete this asynchronously before 11:59 pm.)

Positive Behavior Awards Points
When a staff member sees a student making a special effort to exhibit one of the five traits, they will be issued a PBA point in Skyward. Each PBA point is worth 10 Harmony Bucks. We hope to launch our student store next school year.
This month the student with the highest number of points will get a pizza if your student is working from home, no problem! We will have it delivered.
As a family, engage in discussions with your students about how to show Integrity, Kindness, Respect, Cooperation, and Perseverance at school - and they will begin collecting PBA points!

PBA son las siglas en inglés de los Premios al Comportamiento Positivo. Los estudiantes ganan puntos al exhibir los siguientes cinco rasgos de carácter: Integridad, Bondad, Respeto, Cooperación y Perseverancia.
Cuando un miembro del personal ve a un estudiante haciendo un esfuerzo especial para mostrar uno de los cinco rasgos, se le dará un punto PBA en Skyward. Cada punto PBA vale 10 Harmony Bucks. Esperamos lanzar nuestra tienda para estudiantes el próximo año escolar.

STUDENT & FAMILY CHECK-IN - WE WANT TO KNOW HOW YOU'RE DOING
Teachers have already started reaching out this week to check in with students and families to make sure you are all doing well and are safely and comfortably recovering from the recent winter storm. We want to make sure that you don't have any issues with recovery that will keep students from being able to manage the situation and attend school. Home Visit Requests from Families!
Home visitations by teachers get parents involved in their child's education, and let parents and children know how much teachers care! They are a vital part of building relationships between families and school staff.
Teachers will visit with their students and parents/guardians through Zoom to get to know each other and share information about upcoming events for our campus.
To request a 30 minute Home-Visit, complete this form with at least 3 optional dates that may work for you and your family and we will confirm a date and time to meet. (You can also schedule directly with your child's teacher)

Campus Procedure Videos
NEW FOOD DISTRIBUTION SCHEDULE AND POLICIES
Dear Parents/Guardians,
During the school closure last spring and over the summer months, Harmony offered meals to all children ages 18 and under in the community. Meals were distributed at select schools at no charge.
HSI will distribute meals on Monday (for Monday & Tuesday) and Wednesday (for Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) between 10:00am and 11:00am.
Meals will only be provided to students who are enrolled at that school and ID is needed if students are not in the car. If you have children enrolled in multiple Harmony schools, you will need to visit each campus to pick up meals. For every day in the distribution cycle, your child may choose which days they would like a breakfast and/or lunch meal. A choice of milk is available, but they are not required to take it. If your child has special dietary needs, visit the school website to download the Special Dietary Accommodations form and have it completed and signed by a licensed medical authority.
