Danielle's Tomato Basil Crostini
Introduction
I chose to make a Tomato Basil Crostini because it is a simple but delicious Italian recipe used as an appetizer to serve many!
Yield
This Italian recipe can make up to 32 appetizers!
Ingredients
- 32 slices of French Bread, 1/4 inch thick
- 1/4 cup of olive or vegetable oil
- 3 roma (plum) tomatoes, diced (2 cups)
- 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Equipment
- Ungreased cookie sheet
- Brush
- Measuring cups (dry and liquid)
- Wooden spoon
- Oven
Method
Step 2
- Place sliced bread onto ungreased cookie sheet
- Brush 2 tablespoons of the oil on each slice of bread
Remember to make the slices at least 1/4 inch thick!!
Place bread on cookie sheet, with enough room between each one!
Brush on the oil!
Step 3
- Dice tomatoes
- Finely chop 3 gloves of garlic
- Measure out 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese
- Chop fresh basil leaves
- Measure 1/2 teaspoon salt
Step 4
Bake the bread for 4-5 minutes or until light golden brown.
Remember to bake bread after chopping all ingredients, you want the bread to be warm when served!!
Step 5
Place all your ingredients together (tomato, cheese, basil, garlic, salt, )
Step 6
Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil to the large bowl with your ingredients
Step 7
Mix all your ingredients together!
Step 8
Place about 1 tablespoon onto each slice of warm bread!
