Class of 2021

As you can see in our draft events list, we are moving forward with several events for the class of 2021. There has been a workgroup meeting every Thursday which includes, Mr. Hassell, Mrs. Johnston, Superintendent Andries, class of 2021 student officers, and parents. We are hopeful that this senior class can have as many in-person events as possible. Our admin team continues to meet with colleagues throughout the state and work with RIDE and RIDOH to ensure we are planning safley. A senior packet of information will be released in the coming weeks.

We love our seniors! Hang in there!

Important AP Exam Update

ATTENTION PARENTS OF AP STUDENTS: There will be information coming home regarding the 2021 AP Exams this week. This information will be posted in your AP student's AP Google Classroom by their AP teacher. Please review the information together. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the AP Coordinator, Ms. Monaghan, in the library or by email:

Technology Reminder

Please remind Students that Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is no longer a policy at the Scituate School Department. With the accelerated implementation of 1:1 devices (due to COVID-19) Students should not be using any BYOD’s for any school work on the HS/MS Campus. This includes Phones, Laptops, Tablets and Mobile Hotspots (individual or via cell phones) unless they are a part of a specifically approved accommodation for that student. The Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requires that Students access to potentially harmful websites be filtered which we cannot do on personal devices.

Students need to be encouraged to utilize their SSD supplied devices for all school work as there are many school approved Apps and Extensions that are loaded and managed by the Tech Department. These controls help to prevent 3rd party Apps and extensions not approved from interfering with things like Google Meets and other programs like the newly implemented GoGaurdian. These tools are intended to help Staff with supporting teaching and learning especially in the Distance Learning environment we find ourselves in. They also allow the Tech department to better assist students with remote support when needed.

Thank you all for your attention in this matter

April State Assessments

RI Department of Education waived our state testing last year because of the pandemic. It is clear that the state WILL expect schools to participate in state testing this spring. What that means for Scituate High School is the PSAT's for grade 10, the SAT's for grade 11 and the NGSS (Next Generation Science Assessment) for grade 11. These assessments will be in person.

In order to successfully prepare for this please review the info below:

  • April 13th All 11th Grade Students will take the SAT
  • April 14th All 10th Grade Students will take the PSAT
  • April 28th All 11th grade students will take the NGSS

All students NOT taking a test on a given day will stay home for a asynchronous (no live teaching) distant learning day.

We had extremely successful in person sessions in October and January with our PSAT's and SAT's and will continue to adhere to all COVID safety protocols to ensure safety on these days!

Advance Placement Update

Attention AP Students and Families:
Announcement from College Board: Remind students—especially seniors—that they need to indicate through My AP the college, university, or scholarship program they'd like to receive their free score report. Students indicate this information only through My AP. They no longer provide this information on their answer sheets. The deadline to indicate or change their free score report recipient through My AP is June 20.

Only a few weeks left! Please help us by taking this survey

Dear Scituate Spartan Community, While we understand that we are in no way under normal circumstances this year due to the global pandemic, we acknowledge the fact that reflection is a large part of improvement. At Scituate High School we strive for excellence and your voice is important! We need to know all of the amazing areas that we are doing well in and where we need to improve. Each year, the RI Department of Education asks families and students to complete an anonymous survey. The data from this survey will be reported on our yearly school accountability rating for all to see. This year, we hope to get as close to 100% as possible! Let's show the state that the Scituate Spartans are the best! The SurveyWorks Stakeholder Survey Initiative is an effort to gather information that will help improve the quality of schools across Rhode Island. The surveys capture and assess information that helps educators understand and act upon what students, teachers, support professionals, administrators, and parents say about the climate, culture, and learning environments in their schools. The survey window will close on March 31, 2021. (Click links below) Thank you for your support, partnership, and commitment to Scituate High School! Student Survey: access code: 30104student612
