Library news
Hello, my name is Lynn Auld and I am the Library Media Specialist at CCCMS. I am excited to be working with your students to help them foster a love for reading.
In the library we currently have labels on the spines of most books to indicate what type of genre or category each book follows. For example, students might find a label for historical fiction, science fiction, mystery, fantasy, and so on.
One of our goals in the library is to meet the needs of all our 6th through 8th grade students. Our older students are often ready for higher-level books. Some of our books meet this need. We are nearly finished with our YA labeling project. They will be labeled YA (Young Adult) and will be on the shelves with all other books in the library. All students will have access to these books. If you are not comfortable with your student reading a YA book, I ask that you have a conversation with your student about this label. If a student checks out a YA book and then finds that they are not comfortable with the content, they can return it and find a book that they feel is a better fit.
Our card catalog is available on-line through our district web site (http://library.usd379.org/common/servlet/presenthomeform.do?l2m=Home&tm=Hom). You may access this at home. If you do a search for YA or young adult, all books with this label will be listed.
Thank you for your support, and I am looking forward to a great year.
Book Fair is Coming
We will then move the book fair down to Piotique and will be selling a wide variety of books and miscellaneous items throughout the day at Piotique on Saturday, September 26th.
The money that we earn from the book fair will go back to the classroom libraries and the CCCMS Bengal Library.
