Prairie Lakes AEA offers Child MHFA
Prairie Lakes AEA is offering Child Mental Health First Aid as a flex day offering for Storm Lake Elementary school staff. This training focuses on children ages 5-12 and as well as youth. This six and one half hour training course is designed to teach adults how to help children who are experiencing a mental health challenge or are in crisis.
Child Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with children.
The Child MHFA trainings will be held at Storm Lake Elementary on August 3 and August 10 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. A 30 minute lunch break will be provided. Class is limited to 30 participants.
This training meets the Iowa legislation requirement of one hour of suicide prevention training for school districts. The postvention portion must be completed separately.

- Teaches adults how to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health problems in children and youth
